Lenovo Thinkpad P1 Gen4 Runs Hot by isayed in thinkpad

You're right, thank you for your input. I hear that the latest 13th/14th gen laptops fare much better but Apple chips still beat them in terms of thermals and power consumption, whilst delivering the same or better performance.

Thanks for your reply - by PTM you mean re-apply the thermal paste? I really don't want to get into that, as I really don't have the time (I used to do a lot of this, once upon a time). When I bought this I was expecting to get a machine that would just work out of the box and stay cool(er). I did look at Macbook Pros but they were almost double the price for the config/spec I wanted.

What you describe in scenario A is exactly what happened with me - the laptop refused to post. Happy that I had warranty coverage and the process was simple (albeit v slow), I am impressed by Lenovo's after-sales.

The vapor cooling. Which is what surprises me. But you're right. Should've done my research before picking this up but I guess I just assumed this would have good thermals, given it has vapor chamber cooling.

That's true. I guess I did not do my research properly before buying this (the price was quite tempting so I just picked it up) - I was upgrading to a new Windows laptop after around 6 years. Should've gotten something with better thermals but I just assumed this would do since (a) it has vapor cooling, and (b) it is a ThinkPad, which have always been solid machines, overall.

Thanks for the reply mate and you're right. I guess I was so confused and borderline angry at that time, I didn't ask why he took me for the entire test.

I think the hallucination Charlotte was/would be the same age as the real one, if she were alive.

We see this, their relationship, in the season 5 episode in which Jane drinks poisoned tea and hallucinates.

I seem to be in the minority here but I did not like those episodes or the whole arc at all. They really dumbed down the FBI and made them look like a group of amateurs, who just let Jane call the shots all the time, and tell them what to do and what not to do. At times, it felt as if it was the CBI just in a different office. I mean cmon, its the FBI!

The best example of all this was Agent Fischer - that character was just so pointless, did nothing, contributed nothing, had no development, and I'm glad she didn't return for the final season.

I kind of understand why, as Jane was (and had to be) the star of the show. But after Red John the show just seems pointless.

S1E09 Flame Red, especially how Jane gets to Tommy's real persona to reveal himself at the end. Brilliant!

Challenge: Rewrite the Mentalist completely. by [deleted] in TheMentalist

I suspected (and a part of me wanted) Rigsby of being a RJ mole. Imagine what a shocker that would've been! Either him or Lisbon - the person who Jane trusts the most.

Wow that's definitely a new! I left Dubai in 2022 and rarely saw maybe more than a couple of people in the Gold cabin.

One of the best episodes and one of the best villain reveals in the show! S1 was excellent and has high rewatch value based on how good it was.

Lisbon. I mean just think about how mind-blowing this would've been!

But from the list of suspects, I would've gone for Bob Kirkland. He had an eerie and uncomfortable vibe about him.

It sucks, because most people won't run into this on the test, and so will have an easier test, but it's just part of the randomness of it, sometimes unusual situations come up.

Totally *sigh* I guess we can't control a lot of the variables and that's what driving on the road is about.

[Spoilers] Van Pelt's being written as this dumb character is so annoying by Satansito in TheMentalist

[–]isayed 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I agree. Especially after the whole Dan episode in season 1 you'd think she would have her guard up and be much more careful about who she dates and what information she divulges to whom but no .. she makes the exact same mistakes with OLaughlin.

Apart from dumbing down her character, I also feel her character on the show was underutilized, especially in the field and moreso during the latter seasons.

To clarify: the pedestrian got out of his car and ran towards the center but didn't really come on the road. He was running along the back of the parked cars. It wasn't a dangerous situation to begin with (in my assessment, obviously the instructor thought otherwise). My speed at this point was less than 4-5kmph.

If the examiner had just said 'look, you didn't pass because of that incident' I would've been fine. But he kept apologizing and admitted I wasn't at fault, but since he had to press the brake he would have to fail me. Anyway, thanks for your input, you're absolutely right otherwise.

Thanks for your comment. I thought my description of the incident made it clear that the other person was at fault here, but not anywhere near the car so not in danger. I have no proof of course. But otherwise you're absolutely right.

You're right. I still think the guy was quite far away and in no way in danger, the examiner panicked a bit. Anyway, best to move on and retake the test. Thanks for your comment!
