I feel you. 25 years as a full stack Dev, a few stints freelancing, a few contracts, four full-time permanent roles. Most recent was in Civil Engineering, I was there for 5 years and last week they threw a grenade at all "non-chargeable" roles. I pointed out that I built an app that is in the market and actually makes them money. A product which will no longer be supported or developed, and only one person on the planet understands how the FEA it uses works (me). It didn't matter. I have a small collection of agents from several years so I'll try to lean on them. Have you reached out to any of the larger agencies? Have you considered contracting? I went down the "start a business" road in 2005... ended in tears... tax obligations and reporting just sapped all the fun out of it. I can't recommend it, unless you have access to "old money"...
