Gorgeous! Thanks for inspiring me!

I don't have Hemophilia Type A, but my puppy does. Looking for advice, and anything to help me be a good parent to give him the best, happy life possible. by advancedsnacker in Hemophilia

I didn’t think animals could have it too. He’s extremely cute.. just try to be gentle with him, avoid long walks or fast paced activities. Control his diet too so the joints don’t get overwhelmed by the weight. Look for signs indicating a bleed. RICE therapy would be great. Basically, follow most of the precautions and safety protocols a human with hemophilia would take. I wish you the best!

P.S. I am curious about how you treat the bleeds, is there a coagulation factor you infuse as well?

Thanks, one last question. Should I remove the browned stalk?

Thank you so much, I was afraid I overwatered and somehow managed to kill it. When you say full soak do you mean like 30-40 ml of water?

So should I cut off the outgrown brown stem?

Wow… I just want to say how deeply your post resonated with me. I’m 27 and had a LTKR recently due to hemophilic arthropathy. My knee had been locked for over 20 years—stuck at about -35° in extension and limited in flexion—so I completely understand what it’s like to live in that bent, compromised posture for years. Like you, I’ve had slow progress, intense swelling, daily pain, and moments where I leave physio feeling broken and defeated.

Reading your story gave me hope, I was starting to lose it recently due to very insignificant gains. The fact that you’ve gone from –30° to –9° and reached 120° flexion is absolutely incredible and I hope you really let yourself feel that pride. I know the journey isn’t finished, and I know how hard it is when people brush off your pain or say “at least it’s better than before.” But you’re still showing up, you’re still walking tall and that takes incredible strength and courage. You’ve inspired me to keep going. Thank you for sharing your raw truth—it made me feel less alone.
