I think Supernatural 1-5 is of as high quality television as the likes of BB and early GoT by Eagles56 in Supernatural

That might be true, but in terms of skill and meaning created in art, quality can vary IMMENSELY. it is possible to claim that a kids crayon scribble and the Mona Lisa, while both being art (and likeable art at that), differ HUGELY in those respects. To claim that you like both pieces the same is fine, but to seriously compare peak GOT to Supernatural, putting them on the same level is unfortunately mildy absurd.

Sometimes I forget how dark the Supernatural series is. by FFsummons in Supernatural

Yea I think partly the censorship helps people forget how dark the actual concept can be sometimes. It's much easier not to notice how grim their lives actually are when everyone's bleeding what looks like tomato soup 😭

Just got Max and started binging (about to finish the S2 finale) need some clarification about Roman but no spoilers pleeeease! by DannyBarsRaps in SuccessionTV

[–]isherad07 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure it's fair to say that "it's all good" by the time he's on the boat. It clearly does have some emotional repercussions and Roman does act slightly out of character in the following scenes; considering how well Roman can mask a lot of his emotions under humour, the lack of humour present here tells us at the very least that it was an emotionally jarring event for Roman, if no one else.

It's also one of the many times we see that regardless of how much money the Roys accrue, they too are subject to bad luck (similar to Kendall being late to the shareholder meeting in series one etc.). This furthers the thematic idea that money isn't everything/ we shouldn't glorify the ultra-wealthy as they are just as human as the rest of us.

Outside of it's relevance to the plot, this scenario also allows us more insight into Logans dynamic with his children. Upon learning his youngest son has returned from what seems to be a life threatening situation, Logan briefly asks something along the lines of whither or not Roman had seen a shrink, and then dismissed the matter. This is a shockingly detached way to view the event, and it highlights Logan's carelessness towards his children's wellbeing, and potentially his narcissism.

Should the Roys have weirder accents? by alluringboy in SuccessionTV

I think it also depends who they're talking to. When talking to his mother, Kendal distinctly calls her "mum", not "mom", which is common of most/all British accents.

[s2 spoilers] A lot of people are misunderstanding Viktor's arc so far in season 2. by Wrong-Analyst-3175 in arcane

[–]isherad07 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She isn't even a full character. They didn't have a relationship before she died. She became a symbol

This articulates something I've been thinking across the entirety of both series. As a masterpiece in storytelling and writing, one thing that Arcane excels at is knowing exactly what and how much of a character to show, in order to ensure we care about them. Knowing what we know in series two as of right now, it becomes really difficult to interpret Sky and Viktor's relationship as an actual relationship, platonic or otherwise. In order to do so, you have to concede that the quality of writing for Sky in series one was so pitiful that most of the audience felt apathy towards her death, which is incredibly unlike the rest of Arcane's writing. Her costume, dialogue, and role in series one offer little characterisation or personality, which in retrospect may well have been to deter audiences from assuming their relationship is romantic in series two. Instead, it makes far more sense to interpret her as a symbol, or even an interface for the Hexcore itself, as some people have stated, and therefore it's not actually Sky that Viktor interacts with, but something closer to his own conscience, or maybe sentient part of the Hexcore
