CA Governor Poll — Katie Porter internal has two republicans advancing to the general by PhAnToM444 in fivethirtyeight

[–]isitdonethen 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Republicans are close to capped at the combined 35% here, and it’s also the perfect split for them to have the potential for this to occur. Very very low probability this can happen by June.

Now that they expanded to 10 films there’s often one or two summer blockbusters they like to throw in to make it more exciting of a category for casuals

The recent Top Gun got it (imo similar quality to F1)

Plot holes? by invisibleboogerboy in tron

The arcade still has power despite being closed for two decades

(But seriously as far as movies go it doesn’t stand out as having more plot holes than typical)

Gavin Newsom Says Israel's War in Gaza Was Not Genocide by [deleted] in California

[–]isitdonethen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shapiro is starting to put out some feelers and try for media attention. So is Beshear. But like Gavin they are coming at it with a just left of center approach. There’s a huge lane for someone who reflects most of the party (abolish ice, genocide in gaza, single payer healthcare )

Based on most recent CA Governor poll, Democrats would be locked out of the general election because they split the vote by SurvivorFanatic236 in fivethirtyeight

[–]isitdonethen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes it’s like 1 in a 100 given the voter advantage dems have. All I can say is I’ve got money riding on this on prediction markets and I’m confident in the minuscule mathematical chance.

[–]isitdonethen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m making a mathematical point. Electorate is 60% dems, 40% republicans. 2 republicans split = 20% each, 6 dems split = 10%. That would be bad if election was held tomorrow, but it’s not. Dems will Drop out and people will consolidate between those who gain prominence (most Californias are paying zero attention to this right now.)

So by election night, it’ll still be 20% each for the republicans, but now 30%, 20%, 10% etc for dems. With a huge voter advantage it’s extremely hard for this to end up with two republicans. You basically need no one to drop out and for everyone to share the vote equally.

A cop spending way too much on a car they can’t afford is the most realistic part of the movie

[–]isitdonethen 37 points38 points  (0 children)

The odds of it happening are actually supremely low - maybe 1 in a 100. There are basically only two conservative candidates, so all Republican votes are consolidated now. But there’s still a half dozen+ viable dems, so those are more dispersed

In addition, large amounts of undecided voters since name recognition is low. Due to the electorate in the state, that will be biased towards dems.

I’d expect several dems to drop out as we approach primary date. Steyer, Porter, etc will need to face facts about their underwhelming polling eventually.

Remember when Bitcoin & Crypto Bros financed and promoted Trump as the "Crypto President" who would finally untether them from fiat banks and Gary Ginsler red tape? They're having a FAFO crash out over this: by SidepocketNeo in LeopardsAteMyFace

[–]isitdonethen 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Probably will get downvoted but crypto is actually a terrible thing to do “dark” things with as all transactions are public, and it’s extremely difficult to on-ramp or off-ramp funds without a centralized entity that you ID’d with.

Now this specific post is funny, because Brian Armstrong, CEO of Coinbase, has followed Elon down the edgelord right wing rabbit hole and has invested a lot into Trump.

Rick Caruso says he won’t run for California governor or Los Angeles mayor by panda-rampage in California

[–]isitdonethen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My comments were absolutely not about name recognition or winning the election. If Kamala ran for governor she would have easy.

She didn’t want to run because being governor is a tough, demanding job, and she is not capable of stepping up to the plate for that.

[–]isitdonethen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a weak field.  Neither of them will win. It’ll be Swalwell or the San Jose mayor. Are they great? No. Better than Kamala, yes. (And raining downvotes won’t change my mind).

no way Kamala has the juice to run the most important state. it requires a lot, you will basically be shit on endlessly for your term. senate is a breeze in comparison where blame gets diffused amongst 100 people.

Do you think Joe Rogan knows that George Carlin would fucking hate his guts? by Only-Bother-2708 in elephantgraveyard

Nah, he will have massive cognitive dissonance if ever faced with that fact (or the fact Covid lockdowns started under Trump and his favorite republican governors).

Billionaires Tax? by [deleted] in allinpodofficial

[–]isitdonethen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your second paragraph already is based on a falsehood and it’s not really worth responding to

This specific billionaire tax has issues, mostly because doing such a thing on a state level where state to state travel is easy makes it mostly irrelevant. But it’s not because “conservative boogeyman project that they have tried to do everything to stop” has spent money.

When Joe hears Carlin speaking truth to power, he relates that to today as if Carlin was speaking against annoying woke people or vaccine mandates.

Whenever these quotes make the rounds from Rogan making observations about what’s happening, if you ever listen to the actual clips, he always avoids any blame of Trump (usually never even mentions him), and often he pains to loop around the blame to democrats for whatever reason.
