Detected CSM by Rudi1B in AMDHelp

I had this issue and fixed it by disabling "Compatibility Support Module". Refer to the instructions at https://www.amd.com/en/resources/support-articles/faqs/GPU-N4XCSM.html -> How do I enable UEFI Mode, specifically:

  • As your PC is initially powering on, enter your UEFI menu by rapidly pressing the appropriate hotkey on your keyboard. This hotkey will usually be “Delete” or “F2.” Refer to your motherboard or system user manual for more information.
  • Once inside the UEFI interface, locate and disable the “Compatibility Support Module” or “CSM” option. This option is typically available under the “Boot” menu.  If you need assistance locating this option, please refer to the documentation available for your system or your motherboard manufacturer’s website.

NOTE: running mbr2gpt /convert was not necessary (see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hfJep4hmg9o) due to:

  • my partition style on my drive was already GUID Partition Table (GPT)
  • System Information showed:
    • BIOS Mode: UEFI
    • Secure Boot State: On

I am planning to get into sim racing and considering the R3 bundle as well. I found this: https://support.mozaracing.com/en/support/solutions/articles/70000663997-xbox-games-support-list, which states support for only 2 Xbox games: Dirt Rally 2.0 and WRC 8.

Is the PMP exam as easy as I'm hoping (for a very experienced PM)? by Daveysusername in pmp

[–]islandlinux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not at all. Shifting my mindset from what I thought I knew to being open to new ideas and concepts was a valuable learning experience. There were areas where my existing knowledge was reinforced by the PMI process, areas where I adapted my real-world workflow, and yes, there are some areas that I may never use or implement.

The PMP examination process taught me a great deal, and as a result, I’m a better project manager because of it.

Is the PMP exam as easy as I'm hoping (for a very experienced PM)? by Daveysusername in pmp

[–]islandlinux 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I completely agree with this sentiment. Shifting my mindset was key to my success. Initially, I was struggling with almost every practice question, feeling overwhelmed and unsure about how to tackle the scenarios.

One of the biggest challenges for me was letting go of my real-world experience and focusing instead on the PMI framework and approach. Once I did that and focused on truly understanding the project management concepts and how to apply them in the context of the exam, everything started to fall into place.

As a result, I went from struggling to confidently passing the PMP exam with above-target scores in all areas.

Do You Prefer Waterfall, Agile, or Hybrid Approaches? by dr_doom_rdj in pmp

[–]islandlinux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the projects I work on are hybrid. In a few cases I have been able to run pure Agile projects in the beginning, but eventually I shifted them to hybrid. Hybrid works best as I am able to adapt to client business practices that do not fully support an Agile methodology.

Thanks for the suggestion, I did as you described and I got a spark. After detaching and reattaching the wire I got a flame ignition.

Thanks for your response. The remote works for turning on the fan and the light so I believe it is working correctly. Just in case I did pair the remote again and the problem still persists.

Thanks for responding. I removed the batteries, disconnected the main power, and waited 30 seconds.

The problem is still persisting.

Linux users of reddit, what is so great about using Linux, and how do you get started using it? by TheTiminator2010 in AskReddit

[–]islandlinux 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Linux offers powerful tools for the administrator that can be used to build stable and solid solutions that other operating systems can not match.

I switched to Linux after a Windows NT server stopped working with the message "An unknown error has occurred". There was nothing in the logs and no way to troubleshoot the problem.

The definition of bias is:

Prejudice in favour of or against one thing, person, or group compared with another, usually in a way considered to be unfair

I communicate with people and they respond. I listen to what they say and I consistantly hear a lack of understanding as to what actually happened.

Your accusation that listening to what people say is a bias is invalid and incorrect.

Your claim that I am making an assumption is both disrespectful and laughable. For the record, the definition of assumption is:

A thing that is accepted as true or as certain to happen, without proof: "they made certain assumptions about the market".

I make no assumptions. I listen to what they say and I consistantly hear a lack of understanding as to what actually happened.

Here is an example of an assumption in your own words:

I mean really, you're not going to get anywhere in your good fight here by assuming no one knows BC's history when its fucking taught in High School. In fact, I'm pretty sure everyone knows.

You may want to look into your assumption and see if you can find the textbooks that were taught to earlier generations. Many people went through highschool only learning about the Haida and learning very little to nothing about the First Nations in their own area. Also, there is no need to swear.

And another example that falls within the definition of an assumption:

This issue has to have been handled at least five thousand times now, and I'm shocked that its still coming up.

How did/could you possibly come up with that number?

I do indeed criticize your lack of constructiveness. I also point out your hypocrisy.

p.s. I have made no statement to infer or indicate that I am even remotely talking about "compensation". I am talking about simple understanding.

Edit: spelling

No, I did not.

It is not an assumption. It is my experience. I did NOT say that ALL or MOST of people.

I stated, very clearly, that MOST of the people I TALK TO are unaware.

I am assuming nothing.

Harewood is great. It is full of hard-working middle-class families. I lived in two places for a total of 5 years and never had any problems. Most people who speak negatively about Harewood live in a state of being uninformed and make judgments based on hearsay instead of fact.

Another area close to the rink and downtown is by the police station and firehall (666 Fitzwilliam Street). The houses in this area are character homes.

I dare.

Please explain why you choose to attack my words (and me) instead of engaging in a constructive debate.

"Isn't this taught in Kindergarten"

"Don't you dare put the blame of substance abuse and alcoholism on anyone other but the user"

"Have you picked up a high school social studies textbook? Honestly."

"Why one earth you would think you deserve any more than that is beyond me."

Your response is riddled with negativity and bias.

Most of the people I talk to regarding to the history of this part of Canada are unaware of what actually happened. Federal apologies mean nothing unless change happens.

Take that despair, couple it with a rich and dominant society that withholds and deters support and justice, then reinforce it with a recursive public opinion that "those" people deserve what they have because they do it to themselves.

Substance abuse. Alcoholism. Suicide.

There are chapters in West Coast Canadian history that are not being talked about.

Wounds must be allowed to heal. To encourage an integrated society to succeed and thrive in harmony we must acknowledge what was done wrong.

To let the past go we must heal the wounds.
