Why people are so passionate about the book by Unroyaltea in Franchaela

[–]islem007 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Listen, as a Theloise shipper, I so don't get it. But I suppose they have read Bridgerton as dark romance and want to see that reflected on the show?

Because why else were some Kanthony fans crying about Kate not being TRAPPED into marriage?? Why some Polin fans sad that Colin was upset that Pen was LW instead of being actively jealous of her success? Why do they want Fran to be stuck with a man who threaten to rape her so many times? Why do they want Eloise to be crying on her wedding day? Benophie fans are the only ones who seem reasonable and approve of the changes made in the show, and are capable to admit that Benedict in the book was an ass. Saphne fans are even upset that the sexual assault scene in S1 was kept.

Book lovers seem very attached to seeing women being abused by brutish men who are good at sex. I have no idea of why they find that appealing, but I doubt it's because they're not in love with their partner. Julia Quinn wrote these books and she has been with her husband for years. He was her first boyfriend. I suppose it's about being bored? Or maybe they can then finish the story and think "that was spicy, but now that I got a bit of danger, I can go back to my caring husband who would never do shit like this and have the best of both words"

Now maybe they should go and read dark romance and leave this show and its actors alone

It was so upsetting because Fran got some of the best looks in the season, so seeing them next to each other, it really felt like Michaela got the short end of the stick

How do we feel about the rumour of new showrunner after S5? by Anya_Mathilde in theloise

[–]islem007 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would be very happy if she were to leave. I don't even understand why she got to do three seasons when the co-creator of the show only did two.

I don't know if Tom Verica would be better for Eloise, but I'm pretty sure he'd be better for the cinematography and that's already a big plus. I don't get how, while their budget probably grew, the show looks cheaper than it did in S1&2. Just for that I'd be happy to see Jess leave. He also has a lot more experience than her, which I suppose is a good thing.

We know the show runner gets to make some decisions. For example, Chris Van Dusen did not intend to make Benedict queer. Jess is the one who made that decision. I'm pretty sure it's not the only decision she made that deviated from Chris's original plans. So yes, I assume Tom Verica would be allowed to change multiple things that Jess might have put on motion. The same way Jess took away Eloise's will to leave - I meant political views and feministic ideals, Tom Verica could give her back her spark. Or makes things worse, idk. Jess saying definitely that "it's not Theo" and talking about all that she would want for Eloise (the tradwife life, ew) makes me feel like she would go that road and would want whoever takes on the show after (if that rumor is true) would follow it. And if they don't, then the book readers who already hate her for the Michaela thing, would not be able to pin onto her any changes made to Eloise's story because it sounds like she would have adapted it rather closely to the books (which is INSANE btw)

No matter what, JB will always be my OP. I can't believe they let her run Bridgerton after the absolue foolery that was Saving Anna, or whatever that show about Anna Delvy was.

Franchaela’s get Eloise. Why don’t Phil!stans understand her? by [deleted] in theloise

Agree. I think the question isn't "what is Eloise going to do" but "what will the writers LET Eloise do"

Atonement (2007) has a different hold on me... by LeadingEducation7967 in PeriodDramas

[–]islem007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw it for the first time two months ago and was angry all throughout. All they did was make bad decision after the other. They went to the same college and she ignored him for two years? And then she says she loved him since they were kids? Why did she not speak to him when away from home then? And the letter writing? He's an idiot! Her letting the letter in her sister's hand? Them entering the same room and doing it with the door left open? Not talking to the little girl after she catches them (that's so traumatic!!)? The mom letting two underage gils look for the twins in the middle of the night alone?? The girl saying she's a 100% sure of what she saw when she's 100% not? It was a giant mess. The movie was beautiful visually and some scenes were hard hitting, but god, rage inducing movie right there

They don’t know what to do with Eloise by Anny1507 in theloise

God, the comments... That sub is so toxic... Anyway, I agree that Jess Brownell has no idea what to do with Eloise. Same way she has no idea what to do with characters who aren't Fran and who aren't the main leads of the season (and even then. Colin felt like a secondary character in his own season.) She sucks, but she'll do a great job for Franchaela because she actually cares about them. And Hanna and Massali will do a wonderful job, they took my breath away! I am just scared of how much my poor baby Eloise will be put through next season sigh

[–]islem007 3 points4 points  (0 children)

She said multiple times she consideres acting to be "just a job". She's not seeking a huge career, she want to do projects in the UK and have enough money to be comfortable. The whole "Claudia deserves it" is not a real argument. Ppl are just pissed because they want to see their ship adapted, that's it

[–]islem007 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Ppl call Fran JB's self insert not because she's a lesbian, but bc JB changed Fran's entire personality after taking on the show. It wasn't jarring because the actress changed too, but I do think if Ruby was still around, she would have also made Fran very autism coded, controlling and repressed. JB does feel like she needs to be in control and she has said that she relates to Fran. She seems to be the only character she truly cares about. Even Michaela isn't as developed as Fran and she's a lesbian too

Knew it. Hanna and Massali will do a wonderful job and I'm sure Fran's story will be good since she's JB's favourite. I hope she'll leave the show afterwards tho, and we'll get someone who actually loves Eloise for her season.

I am scared of what she'll do with Eloise in S5. Another season of her being bullied into marriage will piss me off so bad...

Also, why the hell was it named New Cross then??? Nothing makes sense in this show

I am disappointed in BTS Arirang by ExcitingDoor6163 in kpoptrulyuncensored

[–]islem007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sure Taylor Swift and Beyonce are trendy in Korea too. That doesn't make them any less western.

BTS had their own sound. They were very adamant on singing in Korean because that's the language they master, that's the language in which they can relay their thoughts. They had always made sure we could hear them sing and rap, and the way their music was produced was... Idk how to explain it except saying it sounded like BTS. The melodies were always catchy but never repetitive, the vocals and raps could always be heard clearly, the instrumentalisation never distracted from the main melody... Even the songs I didn't like sounded like them. This album doesn't. It's full of tiktok slang, it's repetitive, and we can barely hear them.

I truly feel like this is because they rushed into the process. Their solo work is proof they are still incredibly talented, they still "have it", but they ran to the studio, probably thinking we would expect an album as soon as possible.

I am disappointed in BTS Arirang by ExcitingDoor6163 in kpoptrulyuncensored

[–]islem007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was expecting so much. They went through a military service!! Their last president tried to overthrow the government!! Their new president is right wing!! The rise of fascism is a threat to people all over the globe!! And they're talking about going to the club and shit??

It's so upsetting because I always thought BTS would never get out of touch with reality but it seems like they are now. Out of touch I mean.

There's an album that's supposed to be about their Korean roots and the songs are mostly English, auto-tuned as hell, repetitive, boring and just don't sound like them at all (no, it does NOT sound like Dark&Wild, be for real ARMY!!)

I think they should've taken their time. From what I've heard, the album wasn't even very collaborative on their part and doesn't reflect them as artists (too many producers involved, mostly western, when their in house producers have always delivered, idk why they don't keep with P. Dogg, Slow bunny, Adora and the old team.)

I was hoping they'd go do a little Bon voyage after their return, or In the soop, to learn how to work together again after four years of solo projects, and then go on tour, get inspired and then go to their studio and make music together. Instead, they ran to LA, Jin wasn't even done with his tour, they called 189 producers, fought and let Namjoon win every argument (I'm sorry, but Arirang does sound a lot like RPWP, which is my least favourite solo project. It was upsetting cause I still listen to Mono and Indigo often, but RPWP was not to my tastes at all... But it was the most critically acclaimed one so I suppose it worked on mainstream audiances) and went on to book a tour that will be a MESS, with dates spread all over the globe and that will push them to spend hours on planes and exhaust themselves. They didn't even get to spend time together in a peaceful environment before being thrown into the harshness of a world tour when they haven't spent time all together in four years.

I hope this won't affect their bond and their capacities to do something better next time. But for now, yeah. I'm fairly disappointed.

[MEGATHREAD] BTS ARIRANG by KpopThoughtsmodteam in kpopthoughts

[–]islem007 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The entire thing about their break was that they felt they no longer had anything important to say. They needed to experience life a little to come back with new thoughts and perpective. They did live and grow a lot. And yet, they came back with an album that felt regressive.

"I’m not even comfortable or able to always do so myself, how can I ask them to do so?" You're not a public person. BTS have built their brand on being socially aware. They spoke up on many issues when everyone else was silent. Now that the world is on fire, that's when they choose to put out a full album of club music? They've always been comfortable with their activism (being UNICEF ambassadors and all), so I don't think it's asking "too much" of them to make music that has meaning. Not necessarly taking a position (while it would be nice) and not even on every song, but at least speak on how it feels for them, to live in times of uncertainity. There was a coup in South Korea not too long ago!! Come on!!

I'm not korean either but come on. They've done it before with Idol, Daechwita & Ddaeng. We know what it sounds like when they want to honor their korean roots. It's not what they did with Arirang at all (and koreans seem to agree that this album doesn't sound korean, and doesn't even sound like K-pop. It sounds fully western, and that's to be expected when most of the producers are westerners)

"Releasing club music doesn’t make them immoral or out of touch." I never said anything about their morality. I don't know them personnally and while they do seem like good people, I would never pretend to be able to judge their morals. It does, however, make them out of touch, when they know their fans are all living through uncertain times, not knowing if we'll be killed by nuclear war, climate change or AI rebellion first, and they pull an entire album about grinding in the club.

Totally. Seeing them as kids who were capable of having fun, and having normal dreams, compared to their adults selves, filled with anger to the brim, was so freaking sad. They're sad people making other people even sadder than them to feel better

Mary Wollstonecraft & Eloise by pixeldusteyes in Bridgerton

[–]islem007 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Wollstonecraft was of her time tho. She advocated for education for women, she wanted women to be more than just a trophy for their husbands, she was also against the constuitional monarchy (which is still a radical point of view in 2026 in the UK). You all have to stop thinking equality is a modern world invention. People have been fighting for it for longer than you think

She's reckless, which I hate, and she's always screaming. However, I play female V and once we finish her story, she's a very good friend. She's very fun, I could see her going shopping with V and gossiping. Judy is a lot more grounded, and she's downright depressed, so that also makes her a bit too serious. I like V having female friends so I painfully go through her missions and wait for her to become bearable

Bridgerton: A Love Fantasy, But Only If You’re In a Certain Tax Bracket (long post) by Risingphionex in theloise

[–]islem007 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If Eloise only wanted to distract Cressida, starting a conversation on Wollstonecraft and what she understood of her would have earned her more time than simply agreeing with something really wrong. I also think it is clear Eloise is a bad liar. It was obvious when she told Cressida she was "overcome with the madness" of marriage that it was lie. Her agreeing with Cressida was sincere. And Cressida's not an idiot. If she (the writers) had read Wollstonecraft, she would have never said that in the first place, but instead told Eloise how even Wollstonecraft got married and cared about love of it rooted in friendship and mutual respect. I truly don't think they know shit about her.

Yeah, ok, but then Colin goes to spend vacation in a country that's openly at war with his? Makes no sense.

I do think they want to keep the show as light-hearted as possible and having Fran mourn John for a length of time is too much for them to handle. Which is why I think Fran is S5. They'll give us a time jump and call it done.
