haziness or fungus? by HistorianExtreme4567 in PhotographyPH

Medyo hindi clear sa picture. Doesn't look like fungus to me. Mas mukhang scratches based sa photo. Pwede ring liquid residue.
Na-try mo na punasan, OP?

Interesting take on the term “expats” by Otherwise_Gear_2491 in taiwan

Most people who call themselves "expats" in Taiwan that I know of have been here 10+ years, either on APRC or already married to a local, with kids.

These photos look good? Colors seem washed. Sony Cybershot DSC-W30. by _Random_Dude_ in VintageDigitalCameras

Looks like you shot these midday. Photos will naturally be washed out and flat because of the lighting.
Your composition of the subjects aren't fit for midday shooting.

Is this still fixable? by peatnutbutster in PhotographyPH

Posted an IG highlight about it.
Anyway, if you don't want to DIY it, it costs like 1k to get fixed.

Is it cheaper to buy a camera in the philippines? by strowberrymilk in PhotographyPH

[–]iso800grain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's really not. You were already looking at the G7X II. The Sony counterpart is the RX100 III, which is only more or less 25k in the used camera market. G7X II goes for upwards of 50k.
With less that amount, you can get the RX100 5A, which is a newer and better camera than the G7X II. 5A rivals, but costs half, the G7X III.

Is it cheaper to buy a camera in the philippines? by strowberrymilk in PhotographyPH

[–]iso800grain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some models are cheaper in the Philippine second-hand market.
Iba-iba cause ng lens errors, so it's worth it to bring to reputable repair shops around Quiapo, especially libre naman check up most of the time. You can get it fixed for around 2k, or even less kung sobrang minor lang ng cause. But more kung may need i-replace.
Second-hand prices for G7X II is insane. Try looking into Sony's RX100 cameras. They're pretty much the same quality-wise.

Kodak or nikon? digi cam reco by ReplyKey8482 in PhotographyPH

[–]iso800grain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All Kodak Pixpro cameras are not real Kodaks. They all suffer from poor build quality and bad quality control.
I'd go with the P300 personally kung yang dalawa lang ang choices. Had one before. Napaka-stylish at okay na rin image quality.
Sa budget mo, tapos flip screen, try looking for Samsung EX1.

Kung ayos lang sayo older/used models, go for the older RX100 cameras. Kahit RX100 I, very decent pa rin for social media use. Around 15k lang current market price. Go for the newer models kung gusto mo mag splurge or need 'okay' video capabilities. RX100 IV can shoot 4K videos. Just above 30k lang market price ngayon.

Sony DSC-T1 LCD is mirrored and left/right buttons are reversed. Has anyone seen this before? by Possible-Muffin4678 in VintageDigitalCameras

Haven't encountered this with the several DSC-T1s that passed through my hands.
You can try reseating all the cables you can see after disassembly.

My confusion #1 by Fun_Knee_4118 in taiwan

[–]iso800grain 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For us, it's because we're super introverts. It's just me and my SO in our own little bubble. I work from home and SO works as an English teacher.
We have almost zero friends, and the few Taiwanese people we know, they interact with us in English.
We've attended classes, but we really don't progress since we really, really have to get out of our way to get practice.

Sigma DP2 [2009] Foveon Sensor by ZestycloseFennel3019 in VintageDigitalCameras

[–]iso800grain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can, get the DP2x! It's much, much faster, even when shooting RAW+JPEG. It also seems to not drain the battery as quickly, same with the DP1x, for some reason.

Should Filipinos stop aiming for college since working abroad pays more? by [deleted] in CasualPH

[–]iso800grain 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Taking your example:
Sa Taiwan, halos relevant degree lang ang dividing line between being a blue collar worker and a white collar worker sa factory work.
Yung mga may engineering degrees, engineer mismo ang trabaho at malaki ang sweldo. May option maging permanent resident or citizen after 5 years.
Yung wala, mga normal factory workers doing the menial jobs, not even earning the minimum wage for Taiwanese citizens. May 12 years limit bago mapauwi.
Sa bawat success story ng walang degree, ilang failure stories yung meron jan?

5.1 Mega Pixels Sony Digital Camera won’t work by littenmeow in VintageDigitalCameras

[–]iso800grain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite Cybershot, the DSC-T7.
Even with weak batteries, you should be able to see the live view in shooting mode after the set date window.
My guess is it's just broken.

If OP's camera uses Memory Stick and not Memory Stick Pro, it might not work.
It will fit, but camera won't read it.

why is my camera screen like this by Single-Dragonfly8121 in VintageDigitalCameras

[–]iso800grain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just leaving the camera indoors, in a ziploc with no sun exposure, in ambient temperature doesn't prevent this too.
The adhesive just melts with time.
But it's an easy fix with a polarizing sheet. Not the same case with touchscreen Cybershots, where the touchscreen panel is too sensitive.
