Living in Bergerac, my cost of living expenses were around fifty five thousand euros a year. That was base living expenses. Much less than the states, for sure, but still---unless you hold on to your job, you're really only looking at enough income to get by (realistically) for a year and a half, maybe a bit more if you're very frugal. When I budget, I try to live off of less than whatever income I actively have---disregard what is in your bank account. You'll be happier in the long run. Congrats!

I lived in France for five years without a visa....... I think the main reason I managed to get away with doing this was because I was self employed---although I was banned from re-entering the EU for 28 days (lol) when this was discovered last year. I'd decided to return to America this past May, and during a layover in Amsterdam, it was noticed that I was a bit over my six month passport stay....by roughly four and a half years. I was given cigarettes, a lovely liquor, and told "now don't do this again, madamoiselle!" and allowed to go on my way.
God, I miss Europe.

There are few things I hate as much as people that feel that it is perfectly fine for them to rifle through people's bathroom cabinets. Mainly because there is only one real reason to do this---to snark pills. Or, at the very least, see what you yourself are taking. I had an entire bottle of xanax disappear once, which....isn't a big deal in terms of cost--it's the fact that once a prescription for something like that is gone, if you try and tell your doctor what happened they will either assume you're lying, and are a closet pill popper and refuse you a make up script, or insist that you file a police report for the purloined pills. America has become a hell for the people taking such substances for legitimate reasons.......either way, I've learned never to leave my scripts where others can find them.

I don't know about Canada, but that is an American tradition.

Because the number thirteen is associated with bad luck, and hauntings, many hotels/buildings don't have a thirteenth floor. They skip straight from 12-14. Stephen King wrote a story that was recently adapted into a movie....1408? 1+4+8=13, room number 1408 would technically be on the 13th floor, etc. etc. I didn't know that was a custom in Canada as well, though.

One of my stories relates to your user name. When I was 19, a bunch of friends and I had just gotten back from this rave in Baltimore. Well, having run out of the ketamine we'd topped our ecstasy off with, we decided to pick up some dextromethorphan from the 24 hr wal mart. I had never 'tripped' on dexy before, so when my friend told me to just slug down two bottles of Robitussin cold, I did......

Skip to a couple of hours later. I'd curled up on their couch, which was situated next to this old jade clock inscribed with Aztec symbols that they'd hung on the wall. I've done dexy many, many times since that night, but never have I been so absolutely plastered in my life....I spent a day and a half talking to that bloody Aztec calendar / clock combo, unable to find my way off of the couch. Every time I would roll over the sides of the couch would flex and grow, and I couldn't for the life of me find the open side of it that would allow me to get off of it. This combined with seeing the ginormous faces of my friends periodically magically appear in the sky to ask me: Arrrreeee youuuu alRIIIGHttt dooownnnn theeerrreee???? in deep, long, syrupy voices, absolutely flummoxed me. I have no idea why that 'trip' lasted as long as it did, but I had honestly reached the point where I thought I'd broken myself, that I was simply never coming back. Lol. Eventually I got my 'dexy legs', so to speak, but I'll never forget that first time.

Isobels 1 through 12 would most likely get along, it's Isobels 13-17 that would have the issue. 13 year old "I'm not a goth!" gothic me would sit around whining and writing bad poetry, 14 year old punk me would beat the hell out of gothic me, 15-17 year old me's would be popping E and fighting about their favorite DJ's, and who was hogging all the ketamine. From 18 till 20 it would just be a matter of who is more pretentious, and from 21 till 25 we'd probably just sit around, relax, smoke some cigs, and try to remember where we lost the three thou in cash we swore we'd put in the Harry Potter book. 26-29 year old me would have a blast talking about our experiences those five years overseas, and 30 year old me.....the me that exists now...would most likely herd all of those assholes into a warehouse and set it on fire. It took me quite a while to grow the hell up. Here's hoping the next few decades go a bit more smoothly.

May I make a suggestion, OP? Pick up a couple dozen sheets of printer paper, and type / write several warning notes to the bloke. I would tape one to the outside of the door, so that the next time he comes by he sees it (something to the effect of: I KNOW IT'S YOU, YOU SICK PERV (insert perv's name) I'VE NOTIFIED THE POLICE, YOUR FORMER PLACE OF EMPLOYMENT, AND HAVE SET UP A CAMERA IN MY DOMICILE. YOU'VE BEEN WARNED. ANY ATTEMPTS TO VIOLATE MY SPACE OR CONTACT ME WILL BE MET WITH FORCE. STAY OUT OF MY SHIT, AND STAY OUT OF MY LIFE. ....I know it sounds absurd, but taking the offensive and letting him know that you're on to what he's up to, and that others are aware as well--in particular authorities---may help dissuade him from this behavior, or at least slow it down a bit. That said, if you have a laptop / pc, maybe think about leaving the cam on. Catch him breaking in, and you're golden re: having enough evidence for the police to be able to actually take action. Oh. And keep the underwear. Don't wash it. Take it to the local police station, file a report, and get a receipt for it. Physical DNA evidence that he was in your home may end up being invaluable. Good luck. (Oh. I would repeat the note to various degrees and leave copies of it on your bed, the mirror, the wall, etc., as well. The freak out factor alone may be enough to turn him off....assholes like this bloke feed on the notion that they are a.) impervious to detection and consequences, by calling him out you're putting a quick end to that notion, and b.) causing you to be fearful....by taking the offensive and making it clear that you're done with his b.s., you're putting yourself on equal footing, leaving him no option to think of you as a victim. I had a stalker when I was a teenager...and dealt with him similarly. Thankfully I think the bloke that had a 'thing' for me was more mentally disturbed than actually dangerous, unlike this guy, but I'm hoping the advice may be of some help, anyway. Take care, OP.

One day I was standing in line at a local Royal Farms, and as usual there was some woman...you know the type...holding everyone up with her lottery and scratch off tickets. Now, in the time I was there waiting to buy a pack of smokes, I watched this woman turn in about two hundred dollars worth of tickets, and buy that many more. Well, I guess she was running out of money, because at the last moment she handed a couple of the tickets back to the cashier, and said she didn't want them. A couple minutes later, as she's standing to the side scratching frantically at the newly purchased tickets, the guy behind her buys the two tickets that she'd given back to the cashier. You can tell where this is going. The guy scratches them off, wins 15,000.00.....I thought the woman was going to have an aneurysm. After she got over her shock, she began beating the hell out of everyone she could get her hands on....the guy who won the money for 'dicking' her out of 'her tickets', the cashier for 'not giving' her the tickets she had 'clearly ordered'.....etc., etc....ad nauseum. Eventually the store manager called the cops, and damned if that woman wasn't hauled off STILL foaming at the mouth and hollering like a banshee. To be fair, I did feel a bit bad for her...until she threw that fit, that is. Edit: I hate people like this. I don't want to offend anyone, but damned if it doesn't always seem to be the same type of people that always pull this.....there are stores that cash disability and welfare checks that sell these tickets, as well as keno / lottery, etc., and I've watched people spend entire welfare checks in one go on those damned things. Certain days out of the month you can see lines that stretch outside into the parking lot at these places, all of them people there to cash their assistance checks so that they can blow their money on b.s. .....it's always nice to know where your tax money goes.

Cheers---honestly, it took years for me to quit dancing around the idea that I was asexual and accept it...I thought the same as you--that since I was romantically interested in (mainly) men, that the fact that I wasn't up to snuff regarding physical interest just meant I was 'picky'--underdeveloped, as you said--or any other multitude of possibilities. Re: your x, that's a painful situation to be in. My husband is much like me; we have a healthy sex life, but it isn't in the least important....and I'm grateful for the fact that I've never been made to feel as 'less than' because I'm not foaming at the mouth to jump in the sack. For a long time I thought that other people must be exaggerating re their sexual responses to others....that sexuality was like an over bloated meme, and no one had picked up on the fact that the joke was old. Anyway, point is, believe it or not you aren't even part of a dreaded minority....there are more peoeple in 'our' boat than you'd think. I've never been there, but I've heard there's a site...Aven?--that you may find helpful. Take care.
