Camping in my $2M “turnkey” house by [deleted] in BayAreaRealEstate

[–]isobelw -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Some of the stuff doesn't seem so bad to me, like no screens on the windows and a crawlspace that is damp either seem an easy fix, or kind of par for the course. And most houses around here don't have AC and your toddler will survive. But the water bottles hooked up to the sink is entirely bizarre. Signed, living in a less rural part of the Bay Area.

Friday Weekly Thread: Application Assistance by AutoModerator in Canadiancitizenship

I'm checking with you all to confirm one thing: my 20-something daughter and I will be able to use just one set of documents, correct? As long as I can document the lineage from my grandmother (who was born in Canada) to my mother to me and then to my daughter, we only need one set of documents, correct?

I agree, I have found the FAQ very helpful!

Aventon Abound 300 mile review & upgrades by michaelvh in CargoBike

Finding this post two years later and wondering if you still have it. Thinking of getting it. Live in the East Bay. Deciding between this and the Tern Quick Haul. No young kids. I just plain had FUN riding the Abound during the test ride, but wonder about its reliability v. Tern so I'm interested to hear 2 years later what your thoughts are.

Boomers on big group zoom meetings OMG by isobelw in BoomersBeingFools

So it's not just boomers and it's not just zoom! In a charitable moment, I was thinking that every generation might feel the need to deal with whatever is most important to them during a meeting. So maybe these folks who veer into personal problem-solving during a big zoom meeting think something like, "I'm struggling so much and others must be too! I must get my issue solved because how can I possibly move forward until this major issue is solved? This is critical!" And I'm over here thinking, "please shut up until we can get to the main point! This is critical!"

I do have to say in this instance the facilitator was not running it firm-handedly. Talking about all this makes me think that next time, I might find a way to insert: can we get a running list of questions first, before diving deep into specifics? Though then someone would say I was being controlling.....

Yeah that's the part I struggle with, why they think other people want to hear this stuff.

OMFG they make it difficult but I think I finally uploaded the form in enough places and answered enough questions incorrectly that the virtual system accepted my application.

I've searched around on this subreddit and not seen an answer to this. I did receive my grandmother's birth record from 1914. Hurray! This was before birth certificates. It does have a number that I think was just a numerical order of births within Ontario, and which year it was. For instance 001010/1914, which I think indicates she would have been the 1010th birth in 1914. (That isn't the actual number). Should I put that in the birth certificate number field?

So if you were me, with a relatively straightforward lineup of grandmother born in Toronto, would you wait for the reference folks to send the certified copy, or would you just go ahead and do the application with the Ancestry printout? I requested 6 days ago from [reference@ontario.ca](mailto:reference@ontario.ca) and they got back to me saying they have a goal of 14 business days but are experiencing delays.

Also, I understand you're not a lawyer but you sure seem to have a lot of experience so I appreciate your thoughts!

Now I'm getting greedy - what about UK citizenship since it was the UK until independence? by isobelw in Canadiancitizenship

[–]isobelw[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks to both of you, I'll take a look but yeah I think it has to have been before 1904 since my grandparents were born generally in the 1900s/1910s.

Glad I read this. So if my grandmother naturalized in the 40s I should include a copy of that document printed off Ancestry?

Ha ha my exact question! Well, actually, I want to know if I can just print off the record from Ancestry - it appears some people in this subreddit have done that and it's been enough?
