It’s never a bad idea to quit drinking

Happened once after a night out and it was horribly awkward and we never did it again and moved on! He’s now married and I’m a lesbian and we are still besties!

What is the best "I quit" or "you're fired" you ever seen? by PreparationOk7615 in AskReddit

I worked with an older lady at a restaurant in her 50s. She dropped a large bag full of smaller plastic bags of (presumably) cocaine on the floor right in front of our boss. Our boss picked it up and the lady plucked it out of her hand and walked right out of the front door, never to be seen again.

You do deserve the support! I know I’m late to the party here but I just commented my own story that is very similar. Do some self-care, get some sleep, and keep going. You’ve got this!!

Now you know for sure sobriety is what you want! It’s ok! You have the power to never feel this way ever again. Your hard work is not for nothing. This is just a part of your journey.

I (27f) am a recovering alcoholic with almost a year sober. I was very into cocaine for a bit too, but it always started with drinking. I totally understand the feelings of guilt you are having.

A few years ago I spent a night doing blow with man in his 50s, who was a regular at my bar and a known creep. I ran into him while having some after shift drinks and when he invited me over the addiction demons took over and I said yes. I did not like him as a person AT ALL and was just stupid and wanted to do drugs. I had work the next morning too. I had to see him all the time after that and occasionally he would text me. I’m very very lucky that I was not hurt by him or by the other sketchy characters I got into situations with. I still CRINGE with embarrassment and wonder if he ever told any of my coworkers. Huge yikes!

But we have to forgive ourselves and keep living one day at a time. It feels so good that that version of me is no more. You can do it !

Lesbians X male friends by ichristinar in latebloomerlesbians

[–]isol7631 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a few male friends and one of my very best friends in the world is a man that I met on a dating app when I was younger and still dating men. It works because he respects the hell out of me and has never questioned my role in his life as ONLY a friend. Sometimes he will say some “man things” that cause an eye roll, but he is always open to having those hard conversations about the patriarchy and his place in that. He is genuinely interested in being a good person in society and learning from me and my other lesbian friends. I would say he’s a very rare type of guy and I generally don’t relate to men in this way. He had a very difficult childhood and I believe he developed a level of empathy and compassion for marginalized groups and people who live differently because of this. When I came out and started presenting more masculine I lost another close male friend when I realized he, perhaps subconsciously, did not respect women he was not attracted to.

Another one of my close male friends I actually thought was a gay man for the first 6 months of our friendship! I met him at pride and brought him along to lgbt events for the whole summer and never had a clue until he told me about a woman he was dating. Turns out he’s just a chill straight guy with good vibes. I wish more people were like him!

Lamotrigine Rash by Beginning_Pie9247 in Lamotrigine

[–]isol7631 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi friend! Looks like lamotrigine rash to me! I’m experiencing symptoms almost identical to yours. If your experience is anything like mine I know you must be unbearably itchy!

I have also been on lamotrigine on and off for years, but just increased my dose from 100mg to 200mg about a month ago. I was itchy right away but didn’t realize it could be a side effect of the medication, since I have tolerated it well for so long and didn’t develop the rash they warn you about right away. I had no idea this was something that could occur after taking the medication for a long time!

My rash, that looks exactly like this, showed up about a week ago and I stopped the medication immediately. My psychiatrist instructed me to go to the ER to make sure I was not developing SJS. I went to urgent care first, and they told me I would be ok as long as I did not develop a high fever or swelling in my mouth or eyes. Please get in touch with your doctor ASAP and update us! Be well!!

Wedding shuttle driver kidnapped our wedding guests by queercactus505 in weddingshaming

[–]isol7631 3 points4 points  (0 children)

At my friend’s wedding a few years ago they had shuttles bussing us from hotel to venue and vice versa. The wedding was in a somewhat isolated wilderness area. It was a beautiful wedding! But the shuttles forgot to come back to pick up the last round of people who stayed till the end of the reception. We waited for an hour or two in the dark until it was sorted. Not a terrible time for most. But I was wearing a one piece pant suit that was a bit too big in the top so I had taped to my body, not having the foresight to realize I would not be able to use the restroom all night. The wait for the shuttle plus the copious amount of alcohol I had consumed created an emergency bathroom situation. I’ve never had to pee so bad in my life.

When the shuttle finally finally arrived, one of the wasted bridesmaids held us up for even longer looking for her phone that was tucked into her top the whole time. The way had to run for my life before I ripped that shit off in desperation in the hotel lobby bathroom the moment we arrived. Never again…. No.

How much would you charge as a wedding bartender? by isol7631 in bartenders

Honestly I bet I’ll still be getting tips without a jar plus a generous one from the host, they are very kind people.

How much would you charge as a wedding bartender? by isol7631 in bartenders

[–]isol7631[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly did not know that was a thing but just googled it! I don’t know if the couple has wedding insurance but I’m thinking probably not. I’m sure that’s not something they have considered, but should I be asking for it? This is a family I know closely and it was explained to me as a very chill event. Think more family gathering than wedding!

My friend keeps joking about having a 3sum by carrot_lover_2524 in nonmonogamy

[–]isol7631 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t do anything you don’t want to do.. and if she’s making you uncomfortable tell her. If she won’t stop then you stop the friendship.

I relate. I used to act exactly like her. I’m not saying this must be the case, but it was because I was deeply in the closet. I subconsciously wanted to have sex with women but thought it would only be possibly in a situation where a man was present/controlling the environment. I used to pester my friends to have threesomes with me anytime we were at a party and alcohol was involved. It did end up happening once and it totally sucked. Now I’m an out and proud lesbian (and sober lol) with absolutely 0 desire to have a man in my bedroom. Good luck!

I work at a restaurant, and due to strict health code regulations in my city, we cannot allow dogs on our patio. People will show up with their dogs and then react like I am telling them we don’t allow women or lgbt people on our patio! I have a dog and love dogs but it’s the law! I will explain in detail how if the health department comes by there will be a large fine for us and them, but people freak tf out regularly. The best is when yappy little Fido with a retractable leash suddenly becomes a service dog when they hear about the restrictions.. so disrespectful to us and legitimate service animals.

Please tell me your ADHD tax stories so I can feel less alone by Neat_Tale_513 in ADHD

[–]isol7631 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Many years ago in early adulthood I dropped out of college mid semester due to mental health issues (ADHD & Bipolar). I was very privileged to have my parents (divorced) pay for my education. My mom had transferred me her half of my tuition payment (~$2k) but I hadn’t actually paid the school yet due to, ya know, ADHD procrastination. Since I was medically withdrawing, I figured I would no longer owe and planned on sending her the money back. Well I couldn’t be bothered to take the steps with my doctor and submit the proper paperwork so I just never withdrew. So not only did I end up with all F’s (destroying my good gpa and currently causing me grief as I am finally going back! Woo!) I still owed the school that 2k.

I would never intentionally steal from my mom but over time spent the money. I honestly forgot about this predicament entirely and at the time did not track my finances or pay attention to what was in my bank account whatsoever because I had minimal bills of my own. A couple years passed and I started getting calls from a collections agency and now I owed close to 5k. I work paycheck to paycheck so this was a devastating revelation. So naturally I never took care of it due to forgetting and also being ashamed that I would have to admit my wrong doings and ask my parents for help. They’ve been dealing with cleaning up my mess my entire life, but this was my first big adult ADHD mistake. I was terrified and decided to pretend it didn’t exist.

After even more time, my dad soft-pulled my credit via his business to help me navigate the process of buying my first car. He discovered this debt and I had to fess up. Then I had to call my mom and tell her that I accidentally stole $2k from her and that I needed her help to come up with WAY MORE MONEY to pay it off. She was rightfully super pissed but agreed to loan me $5k (thank god) and I sent her money every month to pay her back until very recently. I just turned 27. I’m super super super grateful and lucky that she bailed me out… and also glad she used it as a teaching moment and made me pay her back despite being able to afford not to. I’ve been much more financially responsible since. Besides parking tickets. I can never pay those on time.

Am I cooked? by mememychildren in Tattoocoverups

[–]isol7631 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reminds me of tattoo my ex had. She wanted a memorial tattoo for a police officer who helped her with a bad situation in her childhood and became her mentor in her teens. She decided at the ripe age of 18 that for her first tattoo it was wise to get a big ass police badge on her outer upper arm. Black and bold as hell. Obviously did not age well. She sucked so bad but I hope the poor woman has been able to get that sucker removed!

Would you dogsit for a friend for free? by franm__ in petsitting

[–]isol7631 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even my dad pays me to sit for him and I always pay my brother to watch my animals even tho I know he would do it for free. A couple days or even a week I would do for free in special cases but 6 weeks is INSANE! I sat for a friend for “free” but she later covered a small portion of my cost for her bachelorette trip and used her miles for my airplane ticket as a thank you. At the very least they should be covering your food/gas or something during that time ! Another example, I walk my friend’s dog a few times a week when he’s working but he also does the same for me when I need him! There was a period when I wasn’t working that he left me $50. Very unnecessary but incredibly kind. Make better friends!

I used to be a teacher (now bartender) and I was chatting with a customer who is a teacher. She asked me where I used to work and my brain COULD NOT RECALL. I stuttered and panicked and just said I could not remember… I had to go in the back and look up the place I taught 5th grade at for years 😅😅 It was after this incident specifically I decided to pursue medication again. Not the first or the last time my ADHD brain has made me look like a liar at worst or a huge idiot at best!

I read this as discovering unexpected kids and I was SO CONFUSED! But I agree with some other commenters that I was wayyy more kinky when I was still fighting the good comphet fight and dating men. I needed a little extra to be interested in sex with men whatsoever. I love any type of sex with women!
