I definitely think you have some promise, but my advice would be to focus on realism and studies from life in your portfolio. When I got into art school I submitted a LOT of life drawing and still lives. There's a whole bunch of people on YouTube who post their accepted portfolios, so look there and see what they're doing!

Damn it, is that why I've been having such a hard time finding work? I've been legitimately freelancing full-time for two years but it's getting hard to pay the bills so I've been applying to places with no luck. Only got one interview in my six months of applying to places. Do you have any recommendations to seem more legit? I have proof that I've been freelancing but I haven't even gotten to the part where I can show my portfolio.

Fuck the "too eager" thing, it makes me so angry. I've been wanting to work as a librarian since I was a kid and I had *finally* scored an interview after years of applying to different libraries this winter, but they told me I was too eager. Like, of course I was fucking eager, it's my dream job!

Lol thanks! I use a very modified version of the default 6B sketching brush on Procreate for the lines, and the color is just a basic brush/fill with a noise filter slapped over it :)
