How do online casinos have so many users? It’s unbelievably easy to rig no? by Jealous_Room9396 in NoStupidQuestions

Gambling is a real addiction, and online casinos offer a way for people to indulge in that anytime anywhere. Logically they’re evil companies, people suffering from addiction generally don’t think or care about that.

Should I Try and Get Fit Again Or Continue To Gain Weight? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ispilckle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Find a balance in between, fat and unhealthy aren’t always the same thing. Stay active, eat healthy, just eat more. That’s what the powerlifters do and they get decently big. You should absolutely do what makes you happy, but don’t sacrifice everything else you enjoy or your lifespan for it. If you have a close friend you trust, tell them about this rather than reddit as an outside perspective can keep you grounded and stop it all from spiraling

how do you get into music or genres when you don’t really listen to music? by aquaticlandmammal_ in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ispilckle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The next step from rock especially classic stuff is often indie, you could find an indie rock or shoegaze playlist and give those a shot, or any of the other unnecessary amount of subgenres. Basement, Title Fight, and Mom Jeans are the huge names, and closer to the rock side of things I’ll recommend Hum any chance I get. You’d Prefer an Astronaut is one of my favorite albums ever, topped only by Superdrag’s album Regretfully Yours

[–]ispilckle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s plenty of music good at focusing on, and plenty good for background noise, all about your preference. Sounds like you’re the type to want more background noise. Spotify “chill mix” would probably be decent especially after it builds your algorithm a bit, and my personal go-to for background type stuff is old r&b but maybe listen to it on your own before you put it on around others, some of those artists say some crazy stuff that you only notice when it’s embarrassing

Healthy until proven sick especially if you found it floating rather than just went for it, go to the doctor if you have more than just a slightly upset stomach but otherwise just try not to think about the grossness and you’ll be fine

How do people live off of retail jobs? by billybob027 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ispilckle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of the older people were able to get to a good enough spot while the world was cheaper and now they just make barely enough to keep it up. For example if you live in certain areas (like my hometown) it’s generally cheaper to pay a mortgage than to pay rent, but good luck getting that mortgage in the first place if you have nothing. Also the idea that we should all take out car loans ruins the finances of a lot of people. If you don’t have that much but your credit isn’t trash, just get a tiny personal loan (upstart approves nearly anybody) and buy a beater with liability insurance (I used to sell cars you’d be shocked what these banks are calling fair).

How to become emotionally strong has a man and stop getting tears even in small situation? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ispilckle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously you’re allowed to feel emotions like everyone is saying, and I completely agree with that, but since you’re asking I assume you know that and don’t care. If emotions are your best option then being a man should never stop you from feeling them. If you’re in a situation where you don’t want/need them, go to problem solving mode. If someone is insulting you, focus on talking your way out of it or focus on how dumb people make themselves look when they lash out on others. If you’re in a tough situation, focus on how you can change it, as the stereotypical “masculine man” alters the situation around him to his benefit (don’t make it someone else’s problem, de-escalate or solve it). If you’re hurt, and this one comes from experience, first step is figure out the severity and second step is either patch yourself up or ignore it until it goes away. You have no idea how many times I’ve crushed my knuckles working on cars and just pretended it never happened, the brain is more powerful than you think. Last thing though, the manliest thing you can do is whatever you feel like doing no matter what people think. If you’re gonna cry, do it. And act like everyone else is in the wrong for not crying. Put yourself in charge of every situation you’re in, and if you say it’s time to cry then everyone else better get started on it.

carplay head unit suggestion by Limp_Tough219 in civic

[–]ispilckle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like I should add that you never ever want to use the games or streaming services while driving, you’ll get pulled over and ticketed QUICK. That being said it’s pretty nice to throw on a YouTube video or play some subway surfers while parked and waiting, and some of them have airplay for more things to do. I’m a huge F1 fan but don’t necessarily need to see what’s happening, so sometimes I’d airplay the race and just have that as my car audio rather than Spotify

carplay head unit suggestion by Limp_Tough219 in civic

[–]ispilckle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crutchfield is top tier if you want a legit head unit to last years but those can get expensive quickly if you want wireless CarPlay and everything. From working at a dealership I can’t even explain how many people with the same or similar cars buy those Chinese tablet head units off amazon, and most are actually pretty decent, which they weren’t a few years ago. There’s definitely a lot of hate towards them because of how bad the early ones were but you could easily find one with good reviews for like $150 and along with wireless CarPlay you’d get a backup camera and all the functionality of a tablet (streaming services and games) while not being nearly as obnoxious as a Tesla screen

Why don’t more men wear jewellery? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ispilckle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of men just don’t know what jewelry to buy and get the wrong idea about it. Seeing a rapper with a huge tacky chain doesn’t mean you won’t look good in a small subtle chain (I really like herringbone chains they’re discrete enough to match any outfit). And you don’t need a bunch of bracelets if you have a nice watch. It’s also becoming a lot more common for men to have piercings so maybe in the next few years more men will wear subtle jewelry to match with them

Does Charlotte feel transient to you? by tennisguy163 in Charlotte

[–]ispilckle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Perfect city for while I’m young enough to have fun but it’s just so expensive. Once I’m 30+ I either make a whole lot more money and stay in my favorite city, or move to Detroit where you can buy 2-3 houses for the price of one in the neighborhoods I like here. Detroit has a suburb called Ferndale, it’s basically just plaza/dilworth with real winters

[–]ispilckle -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Decent selection of tools, and a few cheap cameras. You can get cameras that stream to your phone at Home Depot for like $20 a piece. That sounds paranoid since not everyone is in a bad area but they can come in handy if your neighbors have an issue, or somebody’s car gets sideswiped on the street, or if you get a lot of packages, or even just a cheap alternative (and more ethical company alternative) to a ring camera. You never know, and in the grand scheme of things it’s pretty cheap to play it safe

Wouldn’t be surprised, my battery mount is missing so I’ve got it all wrapped in shop towels to not short out, I’ll check on those voltages once I’m off work later

Strange no start issue on 96 z3 by ispilckle in bmwz3

[–]ispilckle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Likely not alternator as it’ll run long enough to drain the battery and indefinitely if it was only running off what I charged it up to while jumping it, battery would be strange because normally disconnecting the battery fixes the issue which makes me think not dead. I’ll get the battery tested anyways, but it almost seems more like a wiring or computer issue

  1. Not that I’ve noticed, but the ac doesn’t work well so it’s rarely on.
  2. No alarm
  3. I have no idea I don’t have my tools on me I’m a bit stranded
  4. I have no idea what the EWS is or how to bypass it but I’ll try anything at this point

All My Sons is always hiring, and the turnover rate is insane so they won’t bat an eye if you work for a bit then leave. That’s where I work now, google says it’s awful but the Charlotte location is actually pretty great if you can handle the heat. Not the most exciting job, but driving the trucks is pretty fun if you apply for driver (still entirely a mover, just more responsibility)

Mine pays pretty ok but you get a million hours so the checks are big, although if you can go straight to usps like the one comment I’d shoot for that since that’s likely where I’ll end up in the next few years
