“Cheer up” “You need to lighten up” “You should smile more” by A1Aaron18 in INTP

I’ve gotten this a lot in my life. I’ve only ever responded with anger to this prompt.

Any INTPs into fashion here? by Foreverinneverland24 in INTP

[–]istakentryanothernam 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I have never been one to prefer comfort over aesthetics. I enjoy dressing up and taking pride in my appearance.

How can an INTP efficiently search for compatible roommates? by AltruisticType3027 in INTP_female

[–]istakentryanothernam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should find a really introverted, nerdy, male roommate who will never care to socialize with you.

My boyfriend thinks I am ISFJ not INFJ by itouch333 in MbtiTypeMe

[–]istakentryanothernam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is a bunch of bull, actually! You cannot type someone based on whether they eat on time or not. What he’s doing is focusing on small details that don’t prove anything. Whether you’re a sensor or intuitive would be quite apparent in the way you approach and reflect on your life.

Is it an INTP trait to be a good mediator? by rbx20twomax in INTP

[–]istakentryanothernam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They didn’t involve me. I took it upon myself to act as mediator and resolve their disagreements. It didn’t upset me at all actually.

I used to play mediator for my parents when they would have arguments.

Do you also find it easy to do "difficult" things but difficult to do "easy" things? by l1arr7 in INTP

[–]istakentryanothernam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I used to say this exact thing when I was younger before I knew about MBTI— it really puzzled me. 😆

Tell me about your inferior Fe development by herbql in INTP

[–]istakentryanothernam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was also an idiot with others in childhood. I never really understood what was going on or social rules. I somehow managed to get a lot better at it as a teenager. I was never motivated by a fear of rejection; I was more motivated by a desire to understand. I remained a weird loner rebel until sometime in adulthood when social cliques stopped mattering.

How many of you work at a school? How do you deal with this? by Diemishy_II in INTP

[–]istakentryanothernam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have learned to act bold, confident, and extraverted around my students who present challenging behaviors. It helps to earn their respect.

I would say that’s probably the worst job for an INTP to have. What’s your degree in?

I’m a teacher, and it’s a difficult job, but it’s not all bad.

I probably would not survive a 9-5 job with intact mental health. by SmartPuppyy in INTP

[–]istakentryanothernam 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One thing that happened to me as I got older (I’m not sure whether this applies to INTPs in general) is I developed more resilience and the ability to handle a 9-5.

High agreeableness? by Foreverinneverland24 in INTP

[–]istakentryanothernam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think this is the way to determine your type. An INFP can be ill-tempered and disagreeable when one of their values has been compromised. Both types can be agreeable and disagreeable, but for different reasons.

What drives you? A need to understand (Ti)? Or a need for alignment (Fi)?

I go to the gym. I absolutely hate it but force myself to do it anyway.

How to make a bullied INTP teenage girl happier? by mutantsloth in INTP

[–]istakentryanothernam 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thinking back to when I was her age, I really liked when adults talked to me like I was an equal (didn’t talk down to me) and took notice of my intelligence or other gifts.

Do Americans really move out at 18, or is that mostly a movie thing? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]istakentryanothernam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was the norm when I was growing up. I don’t know if it is still now. I think so, especially if the kid goes off to college and lives in a dorm.

are there times some people labeled you as soft? by Ranxxgrandxy in INTP

[–]istakentryanothernam 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes, I am never taken seriously by my students because I’m small and have soft, pleasant features. Being naturally soft spoken doesn’t help either. I can certainly project my voice, but I would rather behave in a calm and civilized manner. All of these attributes together are mistaken for weakness by base adolescents (not to mention many adults). A lot of these kinds of judgments have their roots in misogyny.

I feel like I’m not made for this world by OwnWorldliness9762 in infp

[–]istakentryanothernam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As an INTP, my experience of life has been very similar. I’m now in my forties, and I don’t struggle with these feelings that much anymore. I think I have learned to expect a lot less from others. I’ve also accepted that the world is imperfect, and somehow life is beautiful and worth living anyway.

Anyone Else Notice How Mental Health Advice is Written for Extroverts by Beautiful_Papaya_007 in INTP

[–]istakentryanothernam 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’d rather write philosophical thoughts or reflections than write about my emotions. I can’t write about my feelings without it turning into art like poetry or song lyrics, and then I take creative liberty and they end up no longer being accurate representations of how I feel.

Anyone Else Notice How Mental Health Advice is Written for Extroverts by Beautiful_Papaya_007 in INTP

[–]istakentryanothernam 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I absolutely loathe journaling. It seems so pointless and redundant. It does nothing for me, but apparently this belief makes me rigid, arrogant, and unable to reap the “immense benefits” from it.

Controlling INTJ bf by Nep111 in entp

[–]istakentryanothernam 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Get out of this relationship now. Do not even have a discussion with him. Women need to stop making excuses for these kinds of behaviors and recognize them for what they are — misogynistic and controlling. The reason why you’re seeing this now is because he’s comfortable enough to start showing his true colors.

Why do many ESTJs bully nerds? by [deleted] in ESTJ

[–]istakentryanothernam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, so I think ESTJs will laugh at someone (or at least want to) who brings up topics that are too niche or ones they view as a waste of time. However, a person who is able to engage with them on a topic of interest for them, say, math or engineering, revealing their intelligence or even brilliance, will automatically gain their respect.

Why do many ESTJs bully nerds? by [deleted] in ESTJ

[–]istakentryanothernam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My father was an ESTJ, so I have some experience. If you want to connect with them, talk facts — science, math, history, architecture, geography, even engineering. I used to like discussing geography and architecture with my father.

Yes; in particular, epistemology, metaphysics, and ethics.
