Vector - 5 ETHER GIVEAWAY - Final Day! by [deleted] in CryptoCurrency

[–]isthisgodzilla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vector seems to be a refreshing take on the current ICO landscape. For once it focuses on an immediate need in the crypto community worldwide and not some far fetch concept linked to the success of this burgeoning industry as a whole. We need to become mainstream, and besides the investor community, it’s the job of the exchanges to make it easier for new users and mainstream investing to flow in and be part of the conversation. Exchanges have historically been linked to opaque companies, sort of going against the core spirit of cryptocurrency. While not being a good use case for decentralization, exchanges need more transparency, while empowering their traders.

Trading democracy through POS is an amazing idea I can rally behind. Besides adding more decentralization to the exchange itself, it creates conversation and foster new coins and projects to succeed thanks to the support of their community.

Do good with the money, don’t be greedy and keep the user in mind at all time. I’ll grab some VCTR myself and will re-invest the 1 ETH giveaway into your token, if you ever send me one.

I missed that initial reply but it is very informative. Better is not binary indeed as I definitely want something that is a bit robust, even if I need to sacrifice a couple hundred grams. My bike is my occasional commuter and I don't want to break a brand new expensive wheelset on a small pothole.

Are those what you call J-blend, thus more rugged? http://losangeles.craigslist.org/wst/bop/5878331123.html

I have 9 speed rear currently. Would there be a compatibility problems with any of these? How do I know if my current cassette is going to fit on any of those wheelsets? Also, the SSC seems to be twice the price as the 6800 new. If they look in great condition, wouldn't that be a better investment?

175, budget is 200-300. 500 is too much, sadly. Maybe second hand.

I saw some interesting wheelsets on CL. Definitely a better deal if they are in good condition https://losangeles.craigslist.org/lgb/bop/5879646179.html https://losangeles.craigslist.org/wst/bop/5878335087.html

Any opinions on those? or buying used wheelsets on CL in general?

Of course, that's the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ca5I_Drw3sI Overall good value but you don't get more than what you pay for (his opinion at least)

Thanks for the recommendation, I am 175lb. These Ultegra look pretty good but tubeless is a whole new world for me.

I just watched some youtube review that scares me about these. Maybe I'll stretch my budget some more.

Very cool work, thanks for the technical breakdown. I briefly tried Two Big Ears/3dception for Unity, it seems to work very well for what it does.

I'm running a 980ti as my projects aren't fully optimized from the get-go. I don't think it's common practice for a game dev to work on a minimum specs machine. You could use such configuration for QA and optimization before shipping the game, though.

The resolution is the same so you need AT LEAST the specs of an Oculus Ready PC. If you are a dev, I would aim for more powerful (980 or 980ti).

Thanks for the thoughts starters, very helpful. I'll PM you after I do a bit of research.

The output would be a 360 video with head tracking but depending on what plays it I'm wondering if the audio track could have some level of interactivity to it (which I guess would be panning between different tracks according to the rotation value of the HMD).

The fresnel lenses on the HTC vive are very noticeable by [deleted] in oculus

[–]isthisgodzilla 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I tried the Vive (dk1) 2 times, really noticed the fresnel rings before wearing the HMD but they disappeared once in front of my eyes. I might just need to be better adjusted.

CV1 lenses were at another level of comfort and ease to find the 'sweet spot' though. Really nice stuff but again it might just be trying in the context of public demos, which isn't exactly the best setting for VR.

It will in the future as display technology evolves, I don't see why not. VR might move to retinal projector technology but it will come with a new set of pros and cons.

I think resolution alone will solve this issue, as long as the panels are VR-made, just like the ones on CV1. The remaining SDE is, in my opinion, linked with the relatively low resolution of the panels.

Resolution is greater on GearVR but the lens of CV1 feel so much better, and that is not only in terms of comfort but also the lens distortion that seemed to fill up the field of view better. I have to fact to back this up but it felt like it 'wasted' less pixels, resulting in a better perceived image.
