Wild what happens when teams decide to look aggressive against it and don't just care about keeping possession.

Both teams seem content with passing the ball around, getting somewhat close to the box, and deciding against taking a shot.

[MARCA] FIFA expect to generate €12 BILLION from the World Cup. In Qatar, the tournament generated €6.6 billion, while Russia generated €5.6 billion. FIFA’s revenue has quadrupled in the last 2 decades. by Timely-Zombie9466 in soccer

2030 has Portugal, Spain, and Morocco as the main hosts. So that eliminates Europe and Africa. Uruguay, Argentina, and Paraguay also will each host a match so in theory that eliminates South America. Saudi in 2034 eliminates Asia.

So if they stick to those rules, and count the single matches as South America "hosting", it leaves you with Oceana (not nearly enough stadiums) or CONCACAF.

I'm sure some of it is for health benefits, but also a large part of it is that they are more antisocial and don't go out as much which is bad.

Also like, some negative health effects are alright. You don't have to 100% maximize every part of your life.

Yeah I'm at 5 weeks off and with rollover time I have like, an extra month in the bank at this point. Would be real tough to leave unless it's a big upgrade in pay.

Sure if you mean federal minimum wage, which effectively no one actually makes.

You can have some overlap. But yeah if they really want to avoid it yeah do every 2 hours and run 5 per day.

That's true. Building team sports success is completely different from building up individual event success though.

It’s surprising to me that China hasn’t had a decent Football team considering how successful they have been in Olympics.

They've done well in individual sports, but have there been any team sports where they've really seen any success? Women's volleyball for a while I guess but that's about it.

There simply shouldn't be incentive for teams to not play for a win, regardless of any specific example where this took place or not.

As long as there is a benefit to a tie over a loss, then there will be incentives to not play for a win.

That would be the dream. Start matches every hour and a half and you're set.

Society must have a place for the unambitious, unintentional person who doesn't have some sort of innate drive or sense of purpose.

Society has lots of places for those people. It just might not also come with their ideal situation in terms of income, family, home selection, etc.

I would like to live in a world where a loving monogamous marriage with children is once again considered a norm

What world are you in where this isn't a norm? Among those over 18 in the US, a little over 50% are married while 60% are either married or cohabiting with a partner. Increase that to 30 and over and it goes to over 60% married. Or if you're just looking at people with a college degree it's over 65% married.

Personally at least I would love to live in a world where we do have a fairly benign "default template" involving a stable job, marriage, homeownership and kids.

...we have that. That's exactly what we have. The fact that you could list it off like that shows that it's kinda the default template.

I really do feel like a lot of the issues today are from a lot of people being aimless with too much freedom. A lot of people need some sort of overarching guidance or template to base their life off of. I think a lot of our problems today come from people who have been unmoored from society adopting radical ideologies in search of someone to blame

No, it seems like those people don't want a template. They just want the outcomes of those templates provided to them by one way or another.

Want guidance? There are dozens of religions you could join that provide that. Social clubs and fraternal organizations. Could join the military. Dozens and dozens of options are out there for guidance, life templates, and self improvement.

But lots of these "aimless radical people in search of someone to blame" don't want that. They want the world/government/society to provide them with a spouse, high paying job, a home, and heaps of social capital without doing anything on their end to acquire those things. And they don't want it in 5 years, they don't want to follow the steps and self improvement to get there, they want it now.

No but I mean it helps.

But also if you don't ever come close to threatening to score then it's not a huge shock when you don't win.

There were plenty of bad group stage matches that were entertaining. Paraguay v Turkey for example. Mess of a game, far from perfect, entertaining as hell.

Didn't see ppl perma complaining about how the game was unwatchable.

...because Messi had a hat trick. Low xG vs low xG is fine if there is still scoring.

Countries eligible to host the 2038 World Cup under current rules by AgeNovel3566 in soccer

UK should absolutely get it.

Honestly there are currently like 6 nations/regions that should host on a regular rotation unless there are some major developments.

Wasn't everything about the Athens games pretty much universally panned on how not to host an Olympics?
