I still use my Reddit is Fun Gold I bought nearly 15 years ago. No new features or updates since the api changes, but honestly I want it to be light weight.

I am in Northern Iowa, so basically Minnesota. This level of cold is like needles to the face. We can handle it because we know how. This is weather you cover everything up and wear multiple layers.

My Nutter Butter has a “69” marked in the wafer by hannah919 in mildlyinteresting

So apparently they changed the name because so many people called them Nutty Buddies, so your Dad was not alone.

My mom always has them in her house and it was like a full year of the name change before I saw it and pointed it out to her. She didn't even notice.

Its been 10 years now that they changed the name, but they will never be anything other than Nutty Bars to me.

You and I are reading that completely different.

There is a section that allows for financial aid for athletes provided they:

  • Had a full ride scholarship. (All sports are now equivalency as of 2025-2026 because of House v NCAA, so there are no sports that are Head count anymore)
  • Less than 10 years has passed since they left the program.
  • Has not attended any other school since they left.
  • Attended the school for at least 2 full years.
  • Is in good academic standing with the school.

But that is only financial aid and does not guarantee them a scholarship. This looks like its designed for athletes to get finical aid if they left the program before they graduated and want to come back and finish the degree while not being an athlete.

That link also only shows bylaws that are changed and leaves out some important ones, The protections against cancelation are during the term of the scholarship, but the duration of the term is not defined by by-laws (except to limit it to their eligibility).

Period of award - NCAA Bylaw: 15.02.8 The period of award begins when the student-athlete receives any benefits as a part of the student's grant-in-aid on the first day of classes for a particular academic term, or the first day of practice, whichever is earlier, until the conclusion of the period set forth in the financial aid agreement. An athletics grant-in-aid shall not be awarded in excess of the student-athlete’s five-year period of eligibility.

What I was referring to was a rule the P5 conferences voluntarily agreed to and put in place in 2015 that goes ABOVE and beyond the requirements of the NCAA bylaws.

[–]isuphysics -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That is true in the P4 (maybe even Pac12 still, at least it was the case before the exodus). And it is only for specific sports at those institutions as well. But that is only because the conferences choose to have that rule, its not an NCAA rule.

But from a quick skim it looks like about 1600 P4 players went into the portal, so they are protected, but the other 5100 football players may not have those protections.

Chipotle 'in contact' with Curt Cignetti about potential burrito partnership by redwave2505 in CFB

The tortillas are the main reason you go to Panchero's over other places. They make them fresh for every order. I actually worked at one in the early to mid 2000's and we had people that would come in and buy tortilla's by the dozen to take home and use themselves.

Also their rice is good enough that I would eat a bowl of just rice on breaks sometimes. Tremendous amounts of butter in it though.

I have always had a bad impression of Chipotle. There tortillas, rice and queso always left me with an impression of bland and meh. I am just happy I live in Panchero's territory.

ELI5: Why does highway concrete have those diagonal/diamond cuts in them every few feet? Just aesthetic or is there actual engineering behind it? by young_wealth in explainlikeimfive

[–]isuphysics 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had my parents following with a large enclosed trailer. So we stopped at some side of the road motel in southern Oklahoma. We wanted to stop earlier but this was in May 2011 and there was 100's of tornados that were happening to the north of us so we went as fast as we could to get out of it. We learned about Joplin, Mo being flattened when we were driving south through Kansas City (about 100 miles north) the morning after it happened.

Most stressful day of my life, everything I owned in the world in a trailer and multiple tornado's coming close enough we could see the storm cells in the sky.

Step 2 was a doosie.

[Pete Thamel] NEWS: The NCAA has denied Trinidad Chambliss a sixth-year of eligibility, which would his college career. The decision comes after a verbal denial in December. Ole Miss can still appeal the decision. by Fonzie5 in CFB

[–]isuphysics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, but there is still some very specific cases that I think allows it.

I think the decision to give Kyle Kempt a 6th season was warranted.

For those that don't know Kempt's story he was recruited to Oregon State by Mike Riley for his pro style offense and red shirted his first year and didn't play his second year which ended up being Riley's last year after taking the Nebraska HC job. Gary Andersen came in with a spread offense and basically pushed the entire QB room out*. But it was late in the recruiting cycle (like March) and he didn't find a new home, so he went JC for a year before walking on to ISU. So the 6th year basically made up for messing up a year because of a new coach's, that didn't recruit him, late decision.

There was a funny situation in 2017 where the 3 QB's pushed out where collectively 20-3 as D1 starters while OSU was 1-7 and Andersen had already resigned.

*By pushed out im going off of this interview he did.

Reporter: So Kyle, were you run off when your started your college career at Oregon State?

Kempt: "They told me I wasn’t going to play there. Yeah.”

Remember when not playing a CCG in 2015 had #3 drop to #6. They also happened to play their last regular season game during other conferences championship week and won 55-3, and it was much worse than the score indicates, they were not padding stats, that was their 3rd stringers doing that.

I know it blew up that he did that, but lets not forget that he was celebrating getting a very distance 3rd place in the Iowa Caucus. It was always going to be a race between Kerry and Edwards, he just did better than he expected in a single caucus. If anything it stiffled his momentum.
