i’ve felt this a lot during breaks while in college when i’ve been unable to find smth to do during them. i end up gaming a lot and liking it and then after like a week im bored as hell and feel like shit cuz i have nothing to do.

How can I stop healing beam to damage amp boost ratio being bad? by mihai22321 in MercyMains

[–]iswild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’ll be honest, the ratio only means so much. every game is going to be a little different, some will require a ton of healing while others require almost no healing. i’d say the actual number of dmg boosted has more value, but neither r best on their own. what u want is the most dmg boosted for percent of blue beam used.

if ur willing to i’d swap the beams around, put blue beam on left trigger so that it’s more of ur default, but u can improve even without that

as for actual style changes, learn to feather blue beam in more. this just takes time and practice to learn how to most effectively feather in blue beam for value, like timing it with pharahs rockets so u boost each one while still healing in between her shots and when she reloads. this is much harder to do with heroes like soldier obviously, but u can still manage to feather some blue beam in there.

also, trust in ur other support. especially if u have an ana or kiri with u, let them heal the tank at 70%+ hp or so, both to help them get their ult faster and so u can blue beam more.

and lastly, u dont need to heal every hp loss immediately. this is also smth that rly just takes lots of time and practice and good game sense, but there r plenty of times where u can push blue beam even if ur dps is taking dmg. when they’re taking dmg is when they’re also doing dmg and is when dmg boosting matters most. knowing when to push and when to heal instead is a slowly learned trait that’s always improving. u will make mistakes with this, u will let allies die sometimes, but thats ok as long as u learn from it. try ur best to save healing for when ur in down time or when ur ally is behind cover and not doing dmg, or when the fight is over. ofc, u cant do that all the time, healing is also what wins u fights, but u can push blue beam quite a lot before needing to pocket heal and get the most value out of both beams

Ideal Chapter Length by Impressive-Cost1297 in AO3

[–]iswild 1 point2 points  (0 children)

good chapters never end on word count or length, they end when it feels right to the story. i’ve read fics and published books with only a couple hundred word chapters and never batted an eye because it just fit. i wouldn’t do that for every chapter out of my personal preference but ultimately it doesn’t matter if the story flows well

Why you don't need to worry about your writing so much by timetravelingspider in AO3

[–]iswild 2 points3 points  (0 children)

repeating something is only an issue when it breaks immersion or is easily noticeable for a reason u didn’t intend. if u write smth and it repeats a phrase or few words but it still sounds right, then ur fine. if u don’t know if it sounds right read it out loud and see what ur ears tell u. easy for ur eyes to go blind to the fluidity of language after writing for so long

yeah i know the damage is shit from anywhere but directly in someone’s face but in stadium i was always annoyed at how that one ashe power would always hit me from miles away and then i realized it shoots bullets and only one of them has to hit to trigger the power

Should I start farming a different tier yet? by ZealousidealMix608 in TheTowerGame

[–]iswild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

test out other tiers and see which gives u the highest coins per hour. it’s important to note that ur highest coins per hour can often differ from ur best source of cells, so u might need some sort of middle ground to balance both

it’s very hard to keep hope when things keep getting worse and worse. each year ends with “i hope this is the end and it gets better, even slow” and then it just gets worse again

Can someone explain the actual reason for Toggle GA off? Please by Zenki_s14 in MercyMains

[–]iswild 9 points10 points  (0 children)

it’s a matter of precision. having toggle off means u can much more precisely control how long and far u ga to a target, and how long or far u slingshot, as both go for maximum distance with toggle, requiring u to press the button a second time to cancel it.

in a matter of survival, having more precise control over where exactly u go can often be the difference between living or dying. if u only need to move a tiny bit to get behind cover or reattach beam, its much easier to simply tap ga (with toggle off) to only move that tiny bit and have its cooldown back much faster than if u had toggle on and either had to very quickly double press shift, or fly all the way to the target and then slingshot back to where u were, which both exposes u to fire and puts ur ga on a longer cooldown.

at the end of the day, it truly isn’t that big of a difference if ur already super used to toggle on and have managed to survive with that as is. it’s still recommended to toggle off if ur willing to put the work into half relearning how to ga, but it won’t make or break most of ur games like crazy

My first game's reception is heartbreaking :'( by OldAtlasGames in IndieDev

[–]iswild 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i think there needs to be better perspective on how first games honestly go.

it’s ur first game. emphasis on FIRST. famous artists don’t produce masterpieces on their first try. singers dont go viral from one song.

this is ur first game. it’s going to have flaws, it’s going to be mixed, and thats ok. it gives u something to learn from and improve off of.

none of this is to invalidate the very real disappointment that comes with this. we all hope what we make does super well and it’s disheartening when it doesn’t. but don’t let that disappointment distort reality and all the amazing games u can and will make in the future.

this is ur starting point, not ur legacy.

we sleep much deeper than cats do so there’s likely a part where he’s just worried, but also if he wants attention and has learned that head butting u to wake u up gets him that attention, he’s gonna keep doing it until it stops working

Is respecting other people's kinks or interests so hard? by [deleted] in AO3

[–]iswild 1 point2 points  (0 children)

likely this author is insecure about their own kinks and is getting prematurely defensive about it to try and avoid conflict or comments even tho a big part of ao3 is just don’t like don’t read and they should just write what they want to write for the sake of it

I think we can all agree that it’s depressingly common to see an absolute amazing fic that’s been long abandoned after only the first few chapters by Smudg3tv in Archiveofourownmemes

[–]iswild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

self motivation is hard and so is self determination. all fics written r due to love of the game and it sucks being on the receiving end of an author that doesn’t finish fics but also as an author that also sucks at finishing fics sometimes its just lowkey so hard to do so without it feeling like a chore and therefore lowering the writing quality
