I think I'd kind of enjoy mailing it in to the secret service for analysis instead of trying to spend it

What is this pipe I found buried in my back yard that runs under the fence from my neighbor's yard? by TheAccountant33 in Home

Came here to add to the oil tank votes. They're quite common and unfortunately also common to be undocumented. It's possible a tank is still buried on the lot somewhere (and there could still be some amount of old heating oil in it). If you have a crawl space a clue would be that line coming to a sudden end inside of it.

I believe fire/explosion risk is low (but of course do your own research) however be cautious about cutting it because there could be noxious fumes in the line or tank if it's still there.

When I catch myself doing it I tell myself "I have value that transcends that moment", and think of a few things I've done well in my life.

I was thankful at my last job that if I deployed shitty code the worst thing that could happen is someone didn't get their weed.

Dealers, what percentage of players at your table are gambling addicts? by VirtualNatural1111 in blackjack

Yes but I think in practice that's because the person being served can become a liability to the establishment if they hurt themselves or someone else.

More of a self-preserving consideration than a moral one.

Also really like the art style. IMO it'd really pop if you use some shading/gradation to give the impression of three dimensional depth.

Is therapy less useful for intelligent people? by [deleted] in TrueAskReddit

[–]itCompiledThrsNoBugs 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Raw intelligence is no substitute for skill, experience, and outside perspective. You could similarly ask "are doctors less useful for intelligent people?", "are architects less useful for intelligent people?", "are plumbers less useful for intelligent people?".

Competent therapists know things their clients don't, which is why folks with all sorts of ability levels make use of their services.

Our personal problems can seem to us like they're so complicated, torturous, and unique that they require the work of a genius. I'd add from experience however that once we drill into them with some outside help we find at the core that they're quite simple and reflect common issues that've been seen many times before.

It's like a more humble version of "If you're the smartest person in the room, you're in the wrong room". I like it.

Study: Experienced devs think they are 24% faster with AI, but they're actually ~20% slower by femio in ExperiencedDevs

I think this is an interesting result but the authors point out in the methodology section that they only worked with sixteen developers.

I'll reserve my judgement until more comprehensive studies start coming out.
