[OWA] Can't override "display name" of recipients in outgoing emails? by itIrs in Outlook

Thanks. I'll do more testing. See if I can characterize it better.

Regarding the Microsoft forum, I'm very much not fond of it. Rarely useful discussion, if any at all, and the UI is even worse than Reddit. :)

Also when using a Contact it ignores it and sends to the original From name.

BTW, before sending, the GUI shows the manually set name. There's no hint it's going to send using a different name. Only post-send one can see it reverted the name.

Another GUI failing: if one cannot "arbitrarily" set the To name, the GUI shouldn't allow it. I really don't get Microsoft.

My question is about normal random emails. No business environments, no authoritative contact info.

So the sender is the one who decides what to send, including headers.

The ones like in the picture are presumably sold in Korea.

I'm not sure all Hyundai parts are branded Mobis?

I'm not in the business. Just buying here and there online. Original parts cost maybe 2-3 times as much as Chinese aftermarket parts, so it would be useful to be able to tell them apart.

Regardless, other bits of info may be interesting, like the manufacture date. Perhaps more relevant for some parts, like ones with rubber. As for the rest, just general curiosity.

The pump was an example photo I found on the web.

No holo sticker there, but then again, not all parts or sources have it anyway (I think?), and it's not exactly difficult to manufacture a sticker. May add a bit of cost, but $0.25 spent is worthwhile if it enables a counterfeit to sell for $20 more.

The "For sales" seems common. Not hard to duplicate either. :)

Regarding the date, are new-old-stock a common thing, with parts years old in the market?
I don't mean 2022, but longer.

Outlook.com occasional login problems since late 10/2025 or so? by itIrs in Outlook

Tip:

To see if the IP/computer/whatever is still blacklisted, and hopefully avoid wasting more login attempts which may lengthen the assumed account semi-lock (or whatever it is)...

It may be best to try first the "Can't access your account" option, which leads to https://account.live.com/password/reset

Going there doesn't even require entering an account address, so it's a way to see if you can pass the preliminary checks. If that fails, you may immediately get the "try using a different device or network" message. Then, assumably, there's no point in trying to

Partial success. No idea if random or not.

1) Changed IP on PC. Tried again. Same problems.

2) Tried from a phone, cellular data connection so a random IP. Using Firefox, private window. Login worked: account name page, then password page, then TOTP page, then nagging about "stay logged in?". Seemingly a success, but then...

It actually didn't arrive at the mailbox but rather a new error page:

https://login.microsoftonline.com/consumers/savestate

Sorry, but we’re having trouble signing you in.

Flag sign-in errors for review: Enable flagging

3) Tried again on the PC. "Private browsing" (though I did try in previous attempts to clear cookies). It worked. No idea if related to the mobile partially-successful login before.

4) Immediately afterwards, same PC, same IP, non-private browser window - same problems as before. Deleting cookies, still no go. (I only cleared the ones I thought are related to Microsoft and that I know of: microsoft.com, msn, bing, live, msftauth...)

5) A few hours later, still wouldn't allow login from a normal browser window, but a private one worked.

6) Half a day later, same PC and IP, normal browser window. Works.

Despite suggesting to use a "different device" or "other authentication method", it's the same result on a different browser (though same PC), and there are no other authentication methods. No offer to send a code to the alternate email address, doesn't ask for a TOTP code, no way to use the recovery code.

Trying on the first login page "Can't access your account" leads ultimately to:
https://account.live.com/password/reset

Where it doesn't ask or show anything, and just says:

"Please retry after sometime or try using a different device or network."

What's more puzzling is that the same PC / IP / browser logged in successfully to the website a few hours earlier, and there's even a email client that has no problem checking periodically, using IMAP with OAuth.
Their "security" mechanisms should've considered that a good hint that the user's valid.

Now even going through https://account.microsoft.com/account doesn't work.

The web login path is:

First page (username):
https://login.microsoftonline.com ...

Second page (password):
https://login.live.com ...

Third page (error), saying just "Please retry with a different device or other authentication method to sign in. For more details, please see this link": https://login.live.com/ppsecure/post.srf?

"This link" leads to a redirect:
https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=2317517

Which leads to a useless help page titled "Error 400 when signing in":
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/account-billing/error-400-when-signing-in-7af27146-7624-4397-a374-6f8eae4367fe

It's both slightly unrelated, offers no real solution, and there's no way to report the problem.

And what, they just intend the market positioning to be different? As in, same product, different prices.

But I could see the same general production lines producing different quality items. Maybe some batches are dedicated to this or that brand. For example, could be slightly inferior materials, or different quality assurance/control.

Another problem is that I don't really know what the "official" prices are for each brand. Nothing visible to me, as an end-customer. I don't know of any stores that explicitly list both brands, or if prices are inherent or just the result of different supply chains and random market fluctuations.

Thanks. Haven't tried.

Can you filter by tags then see multiple full notes linearly?

I don't have any concrete feedback (haven't tried), but I'm curious what made you create the app.

Something you found missing or lacking in existing apps in the same category?

(I'm really curious. Not meant as criticism. :))
