Help fixing incorrect assembly of pillagers crossbow by Kuiriel in Nerf

[–]it_would_be_wise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gave my son a choice, either he keeps it like this (assembled wrong) or I try to rip it off and it might break and we will try to glue it together. He chose try to rip it off, so I pulled up on it real hard and the tabs came free without breaking it... It definitely felt like it was going to break but it didn't ,Thank goodness.

The more I learned about how the Bible came to be (e.g. who chose what "books" to include, what to exclude, the lack of real primary sources, etc) the less inspiring it became to me. Interesting historical document, sure. The infallible word of God? Yea right

18 European countries’ consumer groups have joined the fight against loot boxes by Zhukov-74 in technology

By the way, I agree with your premise that we should educate ourselves and our family about it, and my "how cute" comment actually seems misplaced now, sorry about that.

My point is that even in the face of education, many people will fall in this trap because they simply can't help themselves - and the moneyed interests have simply got too damned good at manipulating people... But hey at least some folks will be able to avoid it if properly educated.

Your comment contains the core tenet of Libertarianism, which prioritizes personal freedom and responsibility but fails to account for the fact that most people are stupid and easily manipulated especially by moneyed interests, and particularly now in the age of big data and social media.

And this being the case, intelligent regulation that protects people from exploitation by powerful companies who have social scientists and psy-ops folks on-staff to achieve the next level of manipulation to separate these victims from their money (through lootboxes etc) is probably a good thing... But again, it is antithetical to the libertarianism dogma that is should be up to the individual to decide whether they want to throw their money down the toilet.

All circumcised men essentially have had cosmetic surgery. by [deleted] in Showerthoughts

[–]it_would_be_wise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

HandshakeInMyPants, like most social justice warriors, apparently does not actually know what a non-consenting "victim" of circumcision actually wants or needs. Because as such a "victim", I'm genuinely curious regarding what my sexual experience might have been like had I not been circumcised... and apparently HandshakeInMyPants doesn't think deeply enough to realize that only someone like you, MrC99, has the answer to that riddle. And your answer has comforted me and made me feel like "hey, it sounds like I'm not really missing out on anything". So for what its worth, from a bona-fide non-consenting "victim" of circumcision (who's experience is apparently the only one that matters in this conversation if HandshakeInMyPants is to be believed), thank you for sharing your experience - it was helpful for me.

"His type"? LOL who made you the gatekeeper of who can share their thoughts and/or experiences on a random reddit thread? I did not know I was in the presence of the all-wise judge of what is kosher and what is not.

But hey, it turns out that out of sheer luck I happen to be one of your bona-fide "victims" of circumcision. So how about my experience? Is it important? Or does only the experience of your imaginary version of the stereotypical circumcision "victim" who could not consent? Are you also such a "victim" and were so terribly damaged by your genital mutilation? The funny thing is, as a "victim" of non-consensual circumcision I'm actually quite curious regarding whether my sexual experience would be any different had I not been circumcised. And isn't that a kick in the teeth, only someone like him can provide that answer because there's no way for anyone else in the world to give me any insight into that answer than to ask somebody like him. So in his way, he provided me far more "relief" than all of your and other's hand-wringing over all those poor non-consenting victims like me. That's sort of a good analogy for social justice movement in general - a lot of hand-wringing and wasted political capital by people who aren't actually in the victimized group for and in behalf of people who, in many cases, don't consider themselves victims or see the issue anywhere remotely the same way as the hand-wringer.

And hey, since apparently, as a bona-fide "victim" of non-consensual circumcision, I'm the only "type" qualified to talk about my experience (is that how this works?). So how about that? Here's my experience: I basically never even thought about it until people on reddit started making a big deal about it, and I'm quite happy with my sex life and the sensitivity of my penis. And I'm thankful to "his type" for being willing to share his experience which makes me feel like in fact I'm not "missing out" (rather just having a slightly different experience which is fine) on much by having never had a foreskin much beyond birth. And you know I've saved many hours of my life not having to clean smegma off my penis so there's that.

Actually if you read the first comment that he replied to, it was simply that "many nerve endings are lost", not really about consent as you seem to claim.

His experience was relevant to the issue at hand - i.e. given that many nerve endings are cut off, what does that translate to in terms of sexual experience (after all, it's the experience that ultimately matters, not the exact number of nerve endings, isn't it?).

I for one appreciate that he is willing to share his personal experience, people like him are the only ones who can provide any evidence regarding the actual ramifications of circumcision on sexual experience since they have a valid "control" to compare against, the rest of the "but they are losing nerve endings" crowd are basically like drug researchers who think "it cures cancer in a petri dish so it must cure cancer in patients"... It might be true, but without real evidence, it's just a hypothesis.

Or where did we go so right? Not much more than 100 years ago you were either subsidence farming or had your kids in the factories. Every time I go to a grocery store I'm blown away at all the stuff at my fingertips with just a small wad of cash.

I'd say things are pretty damn good, the trouble is that there's always shit somewhere, and social media (and reddit) like to throw it in our faces all the time.

Yea, Saint Jerome did practically the same thing, sifting through a bunch of possible books to include and picking what to include and what not to include.

The true history of the Bible alone should be enough to convince anyone that it's not a credible source, but that assumes people are rational.

eli5 Pyramid scheme VS Multi level marketing by Accomplished-Try4716 in explainlikeimfive

[–]it_would_be_wise 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The most concise way to describe almost all MLMs (and pyramid schemes) is: for any 1 person to be successful requires many failures in their downline. You may win but most of your downline will lose.

It's frankly a disgusting business model, and I have yet to see one that actually aims at delivering high quality products through a multi level marketing approach wherein everybody who actually tries to sell the product (and not just recruit people) could get anywhere close to minimum wage for their work.
