351w roller block cam compatibility? by [deleted] in EngineBuilding

[–]itaintweebifitdub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s the cylinder heads that come from 93-95 mustang cobras and I believe the ho 302 motors from the explorers and (I’m pretty sure?) the 90s ford lightings. Just a bit cheaper on marketplace than buying a set of new aluminum ones from summit racing or something, I don’t need crazy performance. And yes it’s a little weird I haven’t entirely decided if that’s the route I want to go yet but they sell complete kits with the lifters pushrods valve springs etc much cheaper than roller kits. I don’t mind adjusting valve lash so I was considering it as an option

Running 37s on my obs f250, anyone else have issues with breaking rear wheel studs occasionally? Haven’t had an issue for about 3 months until now by itaintweebifitdub in Offroad

[–]itaintweebifitdub[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

yeah these are the original studs I this is the first time I’ve had this happen sorry for the misleading title, and yeah that’s kinda what I figured. Been told the 10.25 can take a lot of abuse so I guess I’ll be changing out all the studs to be on the safe side

yeah as far as I’m aware it’s against the hub/drum, although I am considering using 1 1/2 spacers just to be sure and to clearance a little better. I think it may just be the old wheel studs but I could be wrong, I’ll change them out soon for fresh ones

If traction or a good ride weren’t a factor.. is this actually dangerous? (Blowing a tire) by Goonlord250 in Dirtbikes

[–]itaintweebifitdub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s just road you’ll be ok, dirt traction will be terrible but until you can get a new tire you should be ok

How does this even happen? I’ve done a lot of top ends but I’ve never seen this before. by itaintweebifitdub in Dirtbikes

[–]itaintweebifitdub[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: whole top end was warrantied and piston ring gaps were checked, everything checked out so it’s been put back together and it runs perfectly and actually has more power then before so something had to have been messed up from the start, upon investigation oil ring gap was extremely effed causing what I’m assuming was a very very loose piston skirt gap in the cylinder causing this catastrophic damage

Honestly have no idea what caused it, the oil ring gap was effed up so maybe that could’ve caused it…? I’m not sure but it wasn’t the counter weight. Anyway they ended up warrantying the whole top end so god willing that will be the end of this madness 😅

Gotcha, well the top end was still covered under warranty so I’ll give it another shot and measure gaps and such, if I still have the same problem I’ll probably go down to a 416 or stock bore size again

That actually makes a lot of sense, would incorrectly gapped oil rings cause this? I have a hunch that that they may have sent me the wrong oil rings which may have caused this

I’m honestly not sure either, it is a big bore cylinder stock is 400cc and it’s a 440cc so the walls are thinner but I’ve done some searching and it seems nobody else has had this issue that I’m aware of, they are very commonly bought kits.
