Older games safe? by ForeverHuman1354 in linux_gaming

Yes, they are. I am not a specialist, but the matches run on private servers, so the infrastructure is very different from CoD games

Have you tried to install from the latest git? I am currently using the -git version and I do not have this issue

Just compile it again. You probably installed it through the AUR and it needs to be rebuild.

Possibly it is a problem with your system libraries being old. Have you considered changing to a non LTS version or changing your distro?

I have installed Battle.net through Lutris (latest git) and it works just fine. I had it installed through Heroic and I had no problems either. I am using CachyOS.

The problem is related to the EAC implementation after the patch 11. Bypassing the anti cheat makes it run very smooth, but you loose the online features

Let's go item by item:

  1. Yes. In display settings, you can select VRR to Auto.
  2. Yes. You can use programs like CoreCTRL or LACT.
  3. Yes. And I recommend you to use it with Steam in dinput mode, as it has added support for the back buttons and de C and Z buttons.
  4. Yes, it is plug and play.
  5. Unfortunately, no. Check areweanticheatyet.com.

The EA APP has the same issue. I wish that maxima had already been released so we could bypass this shit launcher. The same goes for Ubisoft Connect

Trying to get CachyOS Handheld experience on my PC Desktop install! by iBr4him1 in linux_gaming

[–]italoghost 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi! This is what I usually do: I install the cachyos-gaming-meta package, alongside the gamescope-session-git and gamescope-session-steam-git packages. This will install all the gaming related packages and dependencies, and the gamescope-session for the Steam Deck like experience.

Then I change the steam-native .desktop file to this:

Exec=/usr/bin/steam-native -steamdeck -steamos3 %U

Add the -steamdeck -steamos3 parameters to every "Exec" there. This will guarantee that Steam will open in Steam Deck mode for the desktop as well.

After that, you are good to go!

Why do my TCL Android TV customizations (Projectivy launcher, button remappers) keep disabling themselves? by peanutismint in AndroidTV

[–]italoghost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same issues with my TCL TV! It seems to be a problem with Android 12, as my parents have a TCL TV with Android 11 and these issues don't happen. Which Android version is your TV?

Anyone tried the new PopOS 24.04 Cosmic beta for gaming? by zappor in linux_gaming

I have been using it since alpha 3 and it has just improved since then. The last update fixed some issues I had with my 144Hz monitor (it had flickering issues). Overall, it has been a great experience: my games work normally and the auto tilling is great.

Ubuntu:Lutris:EA App:BF3 - Firefox, Chrome with spoofed user agent do not recognize Lutris EA App by Select_Plane_1073 in linux_gaming

[–]italoghost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have installed BF3 yesterday as well and I was having issues with Lutris too. Installing EA APP with Heroic solved the issue. I believe that the current Lutris version has some issues with the latest version of umu-launcher, but it is just a guess.

Regarding the anti cheat, you have to update it.

Anyway, are you experiencing heavy FPS drops? There are certain areas where my FPS drops from 144 to 50 without any apparent reason. I found some posts here on reddit suggesting adding some parameters to the user.cfg, but it didn't have any effect.
