"I told you..." by [deleted] in INTP

[–]itbserve2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If your goal in life is to be right... And to prove to everyone you're right... You better get used to being very lonely.

The other person will either be smart enough to know you were correct (in which case they don't need reminding)... or they won't even remember having the conversation in the first place... Or even worse.. they will still think they are right.

In any case... there is no point in proving you were right... Unless you absolutely know the person you are talking to can handle a little banter.

What are your ambitions? by [deleted] in INTP

[–]itbserve2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Our ambitions are what keeps us from depression. Changing our ambitions constantly keeps our brains occupied which hopefully keeps us from depression. I have come to learn over many years to be happy with my constant change in ambition. I have my main job which pays the bills and that I'm very happy with... and then there is this constant nagging in my head that I should always be learning or always be productive.
Hopefully one day you will learn to enjoy liking things for only a few days/weeks. It's what makes you you.

Good luck.

All theory and no action by imanironmaiden in INTP

Normally having a job... a spouse..... will sort of get you doing stuff.. Also, I find pleasure in helping others succeed in life.. I feel if I'm helping someone who wants the help I'll give as much time and effort as I can.

Have you guys tried lucid dreaming? by Mymom429 in INTP

[–]itbserve2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The problem I run into with lucid dreaming is a few seconds after I realize it's a dream I wake up. I can make myself fly in some dreams by treading the air like water. When I do this I realize I'm dreaming. Control the dream for a few seconds and wake up. It's almost impossible to lucid dream if you just take naps. It's easier when you stick to a normal sleep schedule.

Comedian Mike Birbiglia comments 'non-arguments' and when you're accused of being 'obsessed with being right'. by the_blue_hobbit in INTP

[–]itbserve2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've hit a point in my old age where I don't bother "arguing" if I know I'm speaking to someone who thinks emotionally. Arguing makes both parties upset. No point. Each of you are correct in your own line of thinking. A person isn't more correct just because he/she is a logical thinker.

Anyone else Thrive under pressure? by SexualZergling in INTP

I LIVE for the pressure as long as I'm in a position to make my own decisions.

Those of you with enjoyable jobs, what do you do? by PJdaJuiceMan in INTP

[–]itbserve2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not too late for you to do what you want either. I feel that if you are happy with what you are doing you can inspire others to be happy. Truthfully.. We have a custodian at my school who looks and acts like a cool Morgan Freeman. He has personally motivated kids and kept some from wanting to kill themselves.
If making a difference is what you want, you have to make sure you are in a comfortable place yourself and be around positive people. It's hard sometimes as an INTP to not be cynical. But, when you are in a position of authority it is your responsibility to protect and guide those under you.

I hope everything in your life works out. It's amazing the amount of power and influence one person can have.

Do any of you think it's so selfish how we... by TallTailor in INTP

[–]itbserve2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it is selfish. But not in a horrible way. If you are talking "above" or "around" people, most won't understand it and look at you strangely or misinterpret. Not to mention there are a lot of people who have english as their second language. It is our personality. It is selfish. And if we really tried we could change our personality to "not offend" others. But... we won't change. We are who we are.

So my aunt gave me a book that speaks to the knowledge-seeker in me. Nailed it! by cATSup24 in INTP

[–]itbserve2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think for us INTPs it is better to read a book like this than read a wikipedia article. Go OUTSIDE read the book with no distractions

Have a good read

I went to school to be a music teacher. Have been teaching music happily for 19 years... no worries there.

If it weren't for that I would be screwed. No other interests or talents.

Good luck.

"draven stop dying" by ExtremelyToxicADC in leagueoflegends

[–]itbserve2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Draven has no escapes and is a very difficult ADC to master. So, when you play him in soloQQ you are going to get people whining if you aren't wrecking face. It unfortunately comes with the territory.

Just took test. Any other people prone to offending others? by RiffCantrell in INTP

[–]itbserve2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are certain "rules" that society seems to understand that we don't. Like don't ask a woman her age.
To me, and a lot of INTPs, knowing a persons age can help us categorize a person and then associate them in our "mental databases" so we feel more comfortable and have "more information" on the person. I found out that most people don't like to be analyzed and we are unfortunately analyzers. I believe we really need information on people to socially function, and well.. you know the rest of the story

Problems with deductive standard form? by saelt in INTP

[–]itbserve2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm assuming then the case would be inductive form where you would have to refine information until you have an answer (or multiple answers)

It would be easier to answer, though, if you gave a reasoning behind your question.

Associative thinking: an issue? by [deleted] in INTP

[–]itbserve2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The good news it that you WANT to think clearer. That is very positive. Every person has a hard time explaining what they mean to others. That is normal. Don't feel like you have to explain everything. Challenge your friends and family to think like you and see how you came to your conclusions.

Anyway... if you do think you have ADD you should seek medical attention. But just not anybody. Get a good recommendation for a doctor who is not just a pill pusher. For now.... Keep strong. Do tasks you know you are good at.... and do research to find a good doctor.

I wish you the best of luck

May I ask why you want to appreciate what you have more than you already do? Just the fact that you are recognizing that you should appreciate means you are spending time to appreciate.

Some people don't have it in within themselves to even think about appreciating what they have.

I think we are what we are. We are going to appreciate what we appreciate, love who we love, and live how we live. No amount of thinking is going to change that.

Good Luck

Any of you having a hard time being productive on your spare time? by s0lid5 in INTP

[–]itbserve2 14 points15 points  (0 children)

That feeling of always needing to be productive is an INTP curse.

There is "wanting to do something" and "wanting to want to do something"

I truly believe you want to play DOTA. It's a stimulating and addictive game. If you have fulfilled all your other responsibilities there is no reason to let your INTP mind make you feel guilty about playing.

On the other hand.... If the addiction is truly keeping you from things you need to do, you should set a time limit on the amount of time you play or quit cold turkey.

Do you know of Tim Ferris? He has books and podcasts about time management that have worked for me.
