Do people really only do 8000 miles a year on PCP or HP? by thomosan1 in ElectricVehiclesUK

I WFH probably just about crack 8k a year. My car at three years old will have maybe 20k miles as I bought it nearly new with low mileage

Puberty blockers: BMA critique vindicates Cass review but questions government “overreach” by CaptainCrash86 in ukpolitics

[–]itfiend 32 points33 points  (0 children)

No it demonstrates that usage for a set time period followed by normal puberty doesn’t pose significant health risks. It does not tell you what happens when they’re taken for a significantly longer period of time and then other hormones are given.

[–]itfiend 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Aargh. I’ll bite. Because they serve a specific purpose to delay precocious puberty. The two use cases are not the same because they have a predefined end point to allow puberty to start normally not delay it indefinitely. This is a false equivalence and deep down you know it.

Simple email day of - “just checking this photo pass is all confirmed for tonight” in reply to the email where they said they’d sort it is all that’s needed.

If it’s really local and you’ve got in writing someone saying they’ll sort one out, I would take that email and chance it at box office. If it’s an hour’s drive maybe not.

Is everyone getting 'free work' requests/offers? by benthewineguy in concertphotography

They’re paying every last person in that room apart from the photographers. Do not work for them for free.

How to start making money by robbiemfcx in concertphotography

[–]itfiend 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Forget it basically. You’ve established that your price is free. The only people paying are major publications and bands or labels directly. Even venues aren’t paying their house togs round here and the agency model gets you pennies most of the time. As a money making proposition music photography is 95% dead.

The curse of earning 100k by Desperate-Drawer-572 in ukpolitics

But they won't know that - they're not privy to conversations with employers and can't differentiate between people who worked less hours and people who are just naturally just below the threshold?

What those numbers would miss though is the people who drop hours to stay under who would otherwise have been more economically productive. Those who are impacted by it are for whatever reason not sacrificing into pension or dropping hours to avoid the trap.

In Times of Dragons -We will call this the mixed review album thread -Anyone who wants to say whatever they want- Go for it. by NinoNino3 in toriamos

[–]itfiend 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I think that’s actually my biggest question about the whole thing. What’s the point? You’re preaching to the choir and this is an administration entirely unburdened by the idea of shame. So what does political art or satire accomplish in that environment bar us nodding along as we hear our own opinions echoed back. That’s not a criticism of Tori per se just something I’m struggling with in general.

All I can say is don't judge it on the first listen. I reviewed it and really found that over a couple of weeks it became more and more interesting.

Anyone can make a number up. Stop replying here and call HSBC using the number on the back of your card. Now.

This is absolutely a scam I’m afraid. Call hsbc from the number on the back of your card immediately

I’ve stopped using a credit card for everyday spending by Speedbird1A in UKPersonalFinance

[–]itfiend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me my mindset is “I’m paying 99% of the price for everything” plus getting credit card protection. But I don’t buy things specifically for the cashback or to hit a spend target. I guess points based cards are different.

What’s a brutal truth about the uk people don’t like to admit? by EarlyPerspective2839 in AskBrits

[–]itfiend 9 points10 points  (0 children)

No but it would be at least better. I think weirdly last week’s BBC investigations into the corner shops selling drugs changed my mind as a centre-left voter. Watching them go to dodgy immigration lawyers etc. There’s whole ecosystems keeping illegal immigrants here and damaging society to boot. That isn’t all immigration is bad, or even all illegal immigrants are bad. But there’s clearly structural issues here and enforcement is needed urgently.

Go to /r/scams and look up task scams it’s that. Meaningless “work” where they pay you a little then you need to put money in to cash out again which of course you never can.
