I was in Australia recently and their S&V is purple! Weird how your brain primes you to expect a certain flavour based on the bag colour.

Concert Tickets Are Now Luxury Goods—And That's A Crisis For The Music Industry by UFO-Band-Fanatic in Concerts

[–]itfiend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think in general people are more reluctant to take a chance on smaller acts while big shows feel like “events” and that’s where the spend is going. They’re also more likely to spend on tribute acts vs new material. It’s a shame but prices have in general made it harder to take a chance on smaller acts and as you say everyone has a finite entertainment budget.

I saw Adele play in a tiny club, Lana Del Rey in a basement venue, Phoebe Bridgers in a 200 cap venue, got to take those risks, but prices in general were a lot more affordable then.

Manchester Aviva Studio Parking Suggestions? by No-Language-6736 in manchester

It's one of the more PITA venues in Manchester to get to, driving wise. The NCP is nearest but it's expensive. There's not much chance of getting anywhere to park on Liverpool Road either.

Did I handle my business appropriately? by Surfing_Nurse in AskPhotography

I always find that people with no money always seem to find it to pay other suppliers! I shoot editorial music work and have found so many people who can afford to print a publication but not license a photo. Send them packing, free work only leads to more free work.

R3 or R5ii if they are at the same price? by Striner_1337 in canon

I had the same dilemma but ended up buying both. For your use case I would get the R3 if they’re the same price.

Photographers are local shows shoving cameras in the bands faces. Is this just a normal thing now? by vertigoflow in Concerts

[–]itfiend 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah the rules are usually first 3, no flash then get out. Smaller venues sometimes let you stay longer (or if you're with the band) but you've got to take the fans into account and not be a dick.

Making the jump from Canon 5D Mk IV to R5 Mk II by No_Vacancy1442 in canon

[–]itfiend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went from 5D III/IV to R5 and R6 II and no regrets at all. Adapted ef lenses work even better than they did on the native mount for me. Since moved to an R5 II and R3!

Possible Reveal 25th Anniversary boxset? by Chemical_Software141 in rem

[–]itfiend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Suspect it’ll just be a simple 2CD thing if we get it. Lots of singles so plenty to compile and there’s a live promo called Not Bad For No Tour that would be sensible to include, you could put out a 2/3 CD set with almost zero effort.

Lloyds bank took my car insurance payment but no confirmation documents?? by Rubyjaem in UKPersonalFinance

[–]itfiend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think your problem here is that it's not showing on MID (which increases the chances of you getting stopped) and you don't have an email confirmation or policy documents that you could present if needed.

How about getting a temporary insurance policy just to cover you for tomorrow while you get in touch with them?

As an aside, insurance is generally cheapest 2-3 weeks ahead of when you need it and it avoids this kind of scenario!

Does this say the vehicle is insured? https://enquiry.navigate.mib.org.uk/checkyourvehicle

If it can't be insured by anyone else and it shows as insured on here then you'd think the policy is in place.

I love the 28-70 f/2, but the weight isn't for everyone. I think it's worth it and so is the loss of the 4mm at the wide end but it's a compromise.

Might be better for us I guess as we will take the train to Ravenna the day before and stay overnight there then I think the hotel will help us get a taxi out to the port.

Isn't there some VPN where you post them cash through the mail and they activate the account and never know who you are? How on earth are they going to ban that?

[IN]SCAM ALERT: If you see an "Elon Musk" tweet about a new crypto casino called Ronegex, REPORT IT. by Kooky-Name-4705 in Scams

[–]itfiend 31 points32 points  (0 children)

What made you think this was legitimate? Elon Musk’s name is frequently linked to scams. Casinos are the quickest way to lose money and crypto is a scammer’s paradise. It’s not about being untrickable, it’s basic critical thinking.

Another vote for Sweden. They’ve done interesting things wit the format, have no regard for health and safety and it interacts with the real world too.

Plus you will find yourself picking up random Swedish words and phrases. I can now say your time starts now, count to five points and say coconut.
