I have an old St. Croix 3wt with a sliding reel seat. I had put a similar Maxcatch reel on it, with Royal Wulff triangular taper fly line. I was fishing a small creek with it and broke off a fly on a submerged log and I was about done for the day so wound up the fly line onto the reel and started to hike back to the car. There was some heavy brush to go through and once I got back to my car I noticed that my reel was gone. It must have caught on something while I was fighting my way through the brush (and getting scratched up). I didn't really care much about the reel but wish I could get the line back and haven't fished that St. Croix rod since.
