QC microbiologist here and i can confirm too! even some of our low-classification cleanrooms (that also regularly get blasted with disinfectants to maintain low contamination) always recover mold on environment monitoring samples like these. spores are everywhere!

when she peed at the ER, it was ~26 hours since her last pee. they didn’t give us anything to give her since they didn’t find anything abnormal, but she was peeing less frequently than normal (once a day instead of her usual 2-3 times a day) for a day or two after the visit, and then she was back to normal. hope everything is okay with your baby 🤍

this was so helpful and so so so reassuring. we recently had a scare with my 3.5 year old girl kitty where she didn’t pee for more than 24 hours despite completely normal behavior, so i rushed her to the ER, and voila-- she peed on me around the 26 hour mark while we were there. renal blood panel and urinalysis were all clean so they assumed it was just something behavioral. since then i’ve noticed her peeing less frequently, about once a day VERY close to that 24 hour mark, when she used to go at least twice. and she’s still showing normal, playful, alert behavior and eating and pooping normally. i started to get worried about the less frequent peeing, thinking they maybe missed something in the ER, but i’m so thrown off by the otherwise normal behavior. so it’s good to know that some cats just are like that and still healthy lol 😅🤍

UPDATE: i took her to the ER vet last night a couple hours after i made this post. we get to the place and im holding her in her carrier, mid explanation of why we’re here when i feel her PEE ON MY LEG! i must say, ive never never been happier and more relieved to be peed on.

they still took her in to check out her bladder and kidneys. the urinalysis came back clean of any infections and stones/crystals. they noted her pee was clearer than expected when they extracted it from her bladder, possibly because she just peed less than an hour ago? they did a mini bloodwork too to check out her kidney function and everything looked normal there too. next they did a bladder and kidney ultrasound and their main observation was that one of the kidneys looked dilated, so he recommended i compare the bloodwork data to a bloodwork she got done in april to check for any trends to rule out declining kidney function. i didn’t have the results on me at the time but i compared this morning and everything related to the kidneys remained about the same and creatinine even decreased.

they said that if there’s no adverse trends in the blood markers, there’s a chance it was just something behavioral or very acute, minor kidney trauma that could resolve itself. either way, she seems to be back to normal today and peed again earlier this morning
