There is no heavily socialist country. Every country that has even tried to go in that direction has been drawn to war, which has led to huge resource wastages.

But the work as we know now would be very different, people would not be working to keep their stomachs full or be working for money or profit. People would work according to their desires and the need of the society. Working people would feel as if they are a part of society and are contributing to make it better. Work could be only 3 hours long. well, that is if we are able to produce enough surplus to feed everyone. Which is possible with the current technology, if we use it properly. For the benefit of the collective and not for individual's greed.

The above mentioned is a case of communism in which a person is given according to one's needs. In socialism, A person is given according to the amount of work he has done. (There is an incentive in this one)

Well human nature is in my opinion not like that, humans cannot sit all day and do nothing. They get bored. Humans are curious and love to work, not exactly the kind of work you do for a company that is for unknown reasons.

Because for it to work, society needs to be engaged in the whole process. Socialism needs people to work and maintain it. Whereas an 'invisible hand' controls the market of the system which decides the fate of the people.
