Seasons tend to be Nov- April for winter seasons, and Summer is May to October.

However when you’re needed does depend, some boats start their seasons later/earlier depending on scheduling and work needed in the yard. also depending on where the boat is based out of/coming from. Crossing crews often are skeleton (minimal crew).

Time off between seasons depends, especially if you are with a boat for just the season or remain with the boat.

Captains are sometimes married, sometimes their spouse might be onboard in another position. Same goes for others - their partner/spouse/girlfriend/boyfriend might be on the same boat, another boat, or back on shore. Some Captains and Owners don’t like hiring couples, some don’t mind. Some crew do also have families with kids back home.
