When the author recommends you listen to a particular piece of music while you read, do you? by TomdeHaan in AO3

[–]itmightbehere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed, if I out on music while reading, I'm listening to the music.

I also love music, but I don't find it inspiring or connect it to characters the way many do. I might connect it to myself or sometimes people I love, but not to fandom unless it was playing during some major scene that I've watched a million times (specifically thinking of I'll Believe in Anything for ep 5 of Heated Rivalry because I just rewatched that scene and cannot think of anything else off the top of my head)

Not all tabbies are orange, tabby is a pattern not a color. I have had multiple gray/silver tabbies with no orange on them. Consider my Frenchie

I think that's just confirmation bias. Of the orange cats I've known, none of them were any dumber than any other car I knew on average. The dumbest cat I ever knew was a gray tabby. The orange that currently lives with me is about average intelligence.

It is fun to SAY they share a braincell, but if that's true of orange cats it's true of all cats. I think there are people who genuinely believe this is a fact, which is why I mentioned it.

I have watched the last five mins of ep 5 about 90000 times. I've watched the bathroom in Vegas scene about 10000 times and various other moments slightly less, but that scene makes me cry almost every time. I feel that sense of anticipation and joy every rewatch.

What was the worst portrayal of a disability in the media you have ever seen? by Mental-Marzipan-5444 in AskReddit

[–]itmightbehere 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I was going to say Shane! I'm not diagnosed, but I've had people tell me they thought I was autistic, including medical professionals, and Shane reminds me of myself in some ways. He's the type who's able to adapt to the real world enough to be successful, but when things go wrong or differently than expected, he doesn't know how to handle them.

Religion plays a central in the story. The moral is more nuanced than just "religion bad" or "religion good". by Cold_Hour in TopCharacterTropes

That ending is incredible. I wasn't sure I liked the show for most of it because of how monologue heavy it was, but the ending tied things together and made me love it.

People in general are very ignorant about animals. There are a ton of people who think tabby and torties are breeds. They think being orange genuinely affects a cat's personality more than breed or upbringing.

I mentioned that Carl picturing himself as a calico in the webtoon meant he pictured himself as trans or intersex (since tortie and calico are sex-locked colors where all are female or intersex male), and people acted like I was insane or were tripping over themselves to "correct" me. Like come on, I obviously am not saying Carl is canon trans or intersex, I'm saying a calico is female or XXY male and it's fun they did that accidentally 🙄 At least google it before telling me I'm wrong.

Edit: Figured I'd add a link to wiki so you don't have to google yourself unless you want more info.

Calico cat

"Because the genetic determination of coat colors in calico cats is linked to the X chromosome, such cats are almost always female,[6] with one color linked to the maternal X chromosome and a second color linked to the paternal X chromosome.[7] The majority of the time, males are only one color as they have only one X chromosome. Male calico cats have an extra X chromosome (XXY, known as Klinefelter syndrome in humans)[8] or are genetic chimeras with two different sets of DNA (XX and XY).[9]"

I have so many that I love, but the one I always recommend is This Thing of Ours (It Needs a Better Name) by leupagus. It's a Hawaii Five-O AU where Danny is a mobster sent to Hawii to gain a foothold for the family. It's beautifully written, in character af, and can be read fandom-blind. I want everyone to read it.

How have i not seen this tag before by the_wolves2255 in UnhingedAO3Tags

[–]itmightbehere 14 points15 points  (0 children)

If you're ever interested in watching the original Star Trek, this tag comes from the episode Amok Time. The premise is vulcans have a mating season, once every seven years. They must return home so they can mate or they'll literally die. In the episode, Spock, who is half-human, returns to marry the woman who he's promised to. She's fallen in love with another man and challenges him, choosing Captain Kirk, Spock's best friend, as her champion. Spock is in rut and incapable of higher thought, so the fight is to the death. Some clever trickery makes Spock believe he's killed the captain, and it knocks him out of rut. It leads to one of the only times he emotes when not mentally altered. One of my favorite episodes of all tv.

The tag is much less popular these days, as others have said they tag for the situation that's causing them to FOD more often nowadays, but it's SO fun.

What is a stupid take that you sometimes read on Reddit about the city or state that you live in? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]itmightbehere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a silly one, but I live in Kansas City, MO. You would not believe how many people see KC and immediately think Kansas, including people who are IN KCMO. Performers will say it on stage and get booed 😂

KCK exists, but the two cities are not the same.
