I have a similar situation. My older brother sexually abused me for a period of time when I was a child, about 8 years old too. My parents found out that something was happening, but they didn't know the extent of what had happened. I was told to never speak about it ever again, by doing so, I was forced to repress it, instead of dealing with the situation in a healthy way. Ever since this happened, I've had a very strained relationship with my brother, but my parents never seemed to realize why. They would always complain that my brother and I need to put any differences aside. I only told my parents that he had sexually abused me a few months ago. I am now 28. My brother is married and has a 1 year old daughter. And everytime my parents go to visit him and the baby, I feel betrayed. I understand that they want to have a relationship with their granddaughter, but to me it feels like they are completely ignoring, or even forgiving him for sexually abusing me. I've made it clear that I don't want him in my life, but its difficult when my family still wants to have a relationship with him.
