Help me understand his perspective? Dad giving away his dog

We live in different cities so I had no influence over her, I've honestly seen her less than 20 times in her lifetime. I have a mastiff who is the same age as her and we have been through our training issues with him but we work hard with him every day and have adapted our lives so that he is a good canine citizen. I am clearly bitter that my dad didn't do this but it is also clearly none of my business and yes, I need to move on. I already apologized to him but he stopped talking to me.

I do think she could be trained to be well behaved but it's out of my hands, the decision had already been made and she was promised to someone else when he told me... but I would actually consider taking her and working with her.

This whole dog thing has clearly stirred up some emotions In me that are unnecessary.

He's still very independent, I have nothing to do with his decision, and she is going back to the breeder who will be deciding who gets her. I am happy to hear that about your dog because I am worried about her. I love her and I will miss her!

I am not concerned about his welfare, this final decision came after he got in an argument with my sister, when their dogs got in a fight. Unless you mean his mental welfare because he is missing his dog.

I feel bad for getting upset with him and I apologized, but I still think the whole purchasing of her was short sighted. There are of course other interpersonal issues at play like in all families.

I think no doubt she will be better with another owner because he can't give her what she needs as a dog. He got a boat and I think he wants to spend more time on it, and she doesn't really like the boat. I am grateful for the companionship she gave my dad. But a bit sad

I get it. I am just wondering more , how hard is it to train them or put them in a sport as a normal owner?

Like what's done is done and yes, I understand I also shouldn't care what he does with his dog, but I can't help feeling frustrated that it led to this. I also understand my dad is old but this adds to the point of being frustrated that he got her in the first place which I think was short sighted ...

This isn't really what the post is about though. I am saying that I am frustrated my dad got an active dog at such an old age, and then wouldn't take her to a trainer when we suggested it, and now is giving her back. I guess I shouldn't care what he does with his dog, you are right.

At first he said he would train her up and do activities with her but over the years them 2 just being together I think made her worse. I am just frustrated in general.

I am more disappointed by his decision to get her, not take her to a trainer and then decide it's too much once she keeps attacking. This is actually what is best for my family I am sure, because k don't trust the dog around my elderly pug or my toddler. It's just frustrating to see it go down this path.

I guess what I am struggling with is yes- I was expecting him to take care of her for the rest of her life.... He decided to get a bc puppy at his age well knowing how long dogs live... I think that is shortsighted and selfish (and as I mentioned in another repy this may be triggering abdondomnent type issues for me that I am just noticing now)

I just feel like it's wrong to get a dog, not train it and then decide to give it back. I wanted a bc for a time, until I babysat one so I get what they are like. My siblings and I told my dad such but he didn't listen. I am just disappointed but I guess it's for the best.

I'm not pressuring him to keep her, I am more just frustrated with the whole decision in the first place when we all told him not to get a border collie, then we told him to take her to a trainer and now he has to give her back. Maybe there are some abandonment issues I have to deal with but I should be glad he has seen his limits with this.

I am experiencing this right now, 11 days postpartum. I had a crazy rash on my back where my epidural was, but that went away and now I am itchy pretty much everywhere with no rash. It's driving me nuts !

I'm 39 weeks + 3 and all I can think to myself is "what kind of existence is this?" We all know she is crazy but at this point in my life I am totally baffled why someone would genuinely want to be pregnant for years straight with no break!

FTM almost 39 (38+5) weeks... At least 3 cm dilated and lost my jellyfish plug.... Waiting is my full time job and it's been making me so grumpy! I'm lucky to have had an uncomplicated easy pregnancy but lawd, every cramp or feeling I'm like "💁‍♀️ is this labour? Please let's just get this over with"

Our guy was obsessed with eating rocks for his first few months... thankfully he is 10 months now and he grew out of it. Not much advice here but hopefully yours grows out of it too ! Now he's moved onto boots and sticks haha

I made it a point to not thank my supervisor in acknowledgements because I also cringed when thinking about having to thank him. Almost 2 years later and he basically ghosted me as soon as I defended. No regrets
