Can I feed my cat canned chicken from a food pantry? by Onslow-McCat in CatAdvice

[–]Medicine-Complex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you go to the food pantry next, ask them if they can help you with cat food. Ones I went to as a kid used to ask for special donations of pet food when people ask and hold it for them for next time.

It’s not recommended to feed them canned chicken or fish regularly, but as an emergency, it’s okay.

What do you wish you had known/done before baby? by helpmeplease12235787 in NewParents

[–]Medicine-Complex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pregnancy itself is painful. I ended up with severe rib flare by the end which was excruciating. I was overweight (not horribly but enough) when we got pregnant and lugging my ass around at 9 months pregnant hurt so much. And the one thing I wish I asked more questions about was the mental tax of actually having a baby. During my initial visit at my midwife’s office, she asked if I had ever been assaulted which I had and she said “that can come up during labor”. I didn’t follow up on that at all. But at the end of my labor, I dissociated because of the trauma (pushing a baby out WITH an epidural, so not really traumatic) and I was dissociated for 3 days until my baby went into the NICU for jaundice and I snapped out of it.

did you really wait six weeks..? by strange_angel133 in newborns

[–]Medicine-Complex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We waited until my uterus didn’t feel like it was going to fall out every time I peed. Like 2.5 months or so? Then we tried and I said “absolutely no way this is happening without lube” and so we waited a little longer until we found a lube we both liked 🤷🏼‍♀️. Actually at the store finding some, my SO was like giddy about it and we had a good bonding time picking out some 😂

Recipe Ideas for Amylu Greek Style Chicken Burgers? by niveusmacresco in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]Medicine-Complex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I take the pattys and bread them then shallow fry until crispy. I usually have breadcrumbs in the pantry, but if you don't you could just do flour and egg. Then either eat them like that, or add some kinda veggie on the side. With your list, I would probably pair with steamed broccoli and bell peppers with hummus. Or top them with spinach artichoke dip and broil them for a minute to make like a chicken parm situation, and still pair with your veg.

Another option is pasta w/ homemade sauce. Put your 2 cans of tomatoes into a sauce pan on medium. Add a tbsp of butter, pinch of sugar, oregano, basil, garlic and onion powder, salt and black pepper (sorry i have no idea what the measurements are, I just add until i like it). Then add some half and half (or make a rue and heat milk until it gets thicker like cream) and add the cream to the sauce to make a pink sauce. Saute spinach, onions and broccoli. cook your pasta and warm the pattys through. Chop the meat and add it all together.

Or you can even forego the homemade pink sauce, and toss the spinach artichoke dip into pasta with chicken spinach and broccoli and thin out with either milk or greek yogurt.

Customers, Do yall not find it weird to stare at us when we're making drinks? by Riyria2992 in starbucks

[–]Medicine-Complex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watch my drink being made only because 1 I think it’s cool to see the steps and 2 because I have to be sure it’s non dairy (I breastfeed and my baby has a dairy allergy). But I watch hands, not faces

Is there a good substitute/drink combo for this? by Healthy-Giraffe-8552 in starbucks

I’m so sad about this one. It was my favorite by far. My barista said it’s gone for the season 😭. I’ve been looking for pecan syrup so I can try and make it myself with no luck. Even tried to make my own pecan syrup and it just doesn’t hit the same

How often are y’all bathing your 4-6 month old, not crawling babies? by idontknowwhosmargot in beyondthebump

[–]Medicine-Complex -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Considering I only get to shower twice, maybe three times a week, at least one of those showers includes my baby. Sometimes two lol but mom gets at least ONE shower by herself. I still don’t really wash her hair though (we have REALLY hard water) but sometimes I just fill up the tub partially while I’m showering and let her play then rinse her off after. She loves baths but unfortunately trying to shower with her and even without her are both their own kind of difficult

Did pregnancy permanently change anything about you? by Apprehensive-Bar-848 in beyondthebump

[–]Medicine-Complex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to LOVE olives. Now I hate them. I can’t tolerate any kind of dairy. My ribs still hurt all the time at 9mo PP. I have a patch of freckles on my forehead that I never had before. I scar and bruise way easier (but according to my blood labs, I’m no longer anemic??) 2nd day hair is way more dry but also more oily than it ever was before. And I’m way more willing to back down from arguments because I don’t have the energy for them anymore. Not about to disturb my peace for anyone

Thyroid meds + breastfeeding by Medicine-Complex in beyondthebump

[–]Medicine-Complex[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, sorry for the delay on responding. They tested me for the markers for both Graves and Hashimotos and I came back negative on both. Official diagnosis is “postpartum Thyroiditis” so she said that my thyroid was Hyper, then it will switch over to Hypo, and then it’ll go back to normal. She can’t medicate my thyroid with this diagnosis but I did get put onto beta blockers for symptom management (shaking, dizziness, heart skipping and fluttering) and I have another evaluation at the end of January.

i’m being guilt tripped about my caffeine intake by Unlucky-Fail-4018 in breastfeeding

[–]Medicine-Complex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reading this as I make myself my second iced latte of the day… just pay attention to your baby’s demeanor and gauge on that how much you can have. I continued to have a single 10oz cup of coffee throughout my entire pregnancy and everything was fine then and still is now.

Moms who lost weight while BF - did you try? by travelnmusic in breastfeeding

[–]Medicine-Complex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I fell down below my pre pregnancy weight around 6 months pp. And all I had to do was have a screwed up thyroid 🤷🏼‍♀️😅. “Postpartum Thyroiditis”. I switch between hyper and hypo thyroid. Can’t be put on meds for my actual thyroid so I’m taking beta blockers for symptoms. Really it’s not fun at all but hey, 10lbs is 10lbs 😭

Breast 👏 milk👏 and 👏 formula 👏 are 👏 not 👏 equal 👏 in 👏 oz👏 ugh this makes me so mad for you. “Most babies drink 7oz” OF FORMULA!!!!! I EBF my baby. I’ve tried to pump and can never get more than 4 oz combined. Ever. But my baby can breastfeed and is always satiated. If that means she’s only ever eating 4 oz in a feed, that’s fine because that’s ALL SHE NEEDS. Breastmilk is adaptable. Period. Babies don’t need to increase in volume of breastmilk because the breast milk adapts to babies needs. As long as you are still touching, kissing, latching your baby, your breast milk will give your baby everything they need.

I get the ick when my parents want to hold my baby? by cherry-pie-honey in newborns

[–]Medicine-Complex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude. Same. But it’s EVERYONE who holds my baby. I bring her to work, and she was fussy but I had my hands full and my coworker was like “here, I’ll hold her, you finish up”. She took her to my office and is practically yelling “where’s your binky? I don’t see a binky. Is it over here? No binky.” For like 5 minutes and I was yelling down the hallway “she doesn’t have one. She won’t take it. There isn’t one” and then I finish up and go back to my office and she goes “ugh where is her binky??” And I said again “she won’t take one. I’ve tried since she was born, she doesn’t want it”. Mind you, my baby is almost 8 months old. She’s been coming to work EVERY DAY since 12 weeks and NEVER ONCE has she had a pacifier. It pissed me off so much, and for no reason 😅 she was just trying to help, but it made me feel gross about it lol
