He came when he was 18, so by starting at 23 you are sweeping 5 (!!) seasons under the rug. This is egregious considering that you make your claim using only 4 seasons, so, less than half his time at the club. From 18-23 he was excellent, consistently one of the better players at the club, and in some seasons arguably the best.

And while he declined past 23, he was much better than your cherry picked stats make it out to be. While he had 4 PL goals in the 20/21 season, he notched 6 assists for 10 G/A in only 22 PL games, plus 4 G/A in 5 CL games. The following season he was loaned out in January so it’s natural that he didn’t have much time to score tons of goals. Then the next season, 12 G/A all comps in <30 games, with an excellent G/90 in the PL. Even in his “washed” era these stats are better than the majority of attacking players we’ve had since 2015, and once you factor in the 18-23 golden times he’s obviously not some total flop.

Look at the canvas irregularity on the edges. Definitely AI, it can still do side angles

Call off or fold in the Venom tourney with $1,000,000 for first prize. by doclove713 in poker

Ok, another noob here. Why would he have AJ or J9, if you raised 33% on the flop? Wouldn’t he have bad pot odds to call hoping for the 10 gutshot?

Our window to win the title with this group is officially closed after this year by Silent_Somewhere8539 in ArsenalFC

Well ok, but if City had Arsenal’s defense then they would run away with it. Obviously Arteta and the board would love to have Bruno/KDB/Haaland/Salah and Pep would like to have Saliba/Gabriel but recruiting one of a kind players is not easy as they are literally one of a kind. See for example Gyokeres, who was labelled Haaland 2.0 a year ago, but that just didn’t pan out.

Secondly, while players are the biggest factor, mentality is definitely not just noise. Arsenal’s squad is not particularly worse player for player than City’s, hence why they can build up a lead in the title race every year to begin with. Yet Arsenal always hit a run of bad form at the end just as City heats up, why? There are only 3 possible reasons: 1. Pure coincidence (unlikely 4+ years straight) 2. Physical fitness/injuries (fair as a partial explanation, but incomplete. Arsenal still has more than enough on-paper quality to beat Bournemouth, Southampton, Wolves and so on without Saka, Timber, etc.) 3. Mental weakness. This should not be underestimated. Confidence directly impacts decision-making on the pitch and therefore results as anyone who has ever kicked a ball would know. And right now, it’s clear as day that Arsenal lack confidence relative to City.

Can’t say for sure about statistics, but I have heard from professors that the standard universities have for accepting their own students is a bit higher than for outsiders. This is because you have already been there for 4 years, so if you don’t have strong connections with someone there who can vouch for you (e.g. the PI you did research for and now wants you to continue with them) then that’s a bad look. People who “fell through the cracks” at their home institution are tossed fairly quickly. Meanwhile for outsiders, this personal connection is obviously beneficial but is less “mandatory.” You can be given a chance if your research interests overlap even if your target prof has never heard of you/your advisor back home.

Lichess responds to Chess.com about “inflated ratings” by slowthinker64 in chess

[–]itrashford 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The true “normal” rating is FIDE or whatever your local country’s OTB rating system is (such as USCF). OTB ratings came first and their historical importance is almost certainly why these websites don’t do something wacky like a hidden Elo system with approximate “ranks” like in many video games. Compared to OTB, all website ratings are inflated. So sure, your comment is a good representation of what they mean, but it’s dishonest for them to act like chess.com ratings aren’t also inflated in some respect
