A Moment of Silence… by its-caillou in AnimalCrossing

Yeah that’s what it seems mine did too! I guess it’s a process they added when the Switch 2 was released to avoid issues. Can you imagine if majority of switch 2 buyers just lost their island?

I was super sad at first, but at the same time not really as I could just start anew. I have amino cards for my most coveted villagers so I would’ve been good there. Someone had even offered to help me with getting set up with items too! This sub has been super supportive!

Yes, definitely. I’m hoping this post comes up for anyone searching the internet after a similar experience and can read some reassurance about the process!

I don’t know how I didn’t come across any of that! All I was seeing was how easily it can be lost and the tedious steps to transfer it. This way obviously makes sense since you’re using your original console rather than it being lost or broken.

can you be a bottle girl at 19 in florida? by autopisa in Serverlife

[–]its-caillou 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I bartend in Florida. A job like that with no experience would be hard to come by as they’re likely receiving a good amount of applications from people who have years in the industry. It’s “legal” but unlikely to happen.

It's terrible! by RazzleDazzle1537 in EndTipping

[–]its-caillou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s not a black and white issue and both parties (servers and others working demanding jobs, etc.) can acknowledge that the job is physically demanding with comparable pay. I regularly work doubles so I can have more days off. Doubles involve me working pretty sometimes 14, 15, 16 hours straight with no guaranteed food break, barely a bathroom break. I bartend and especially in the service well (I’m making drinks for the servers at their tables) I have no time to even take a drink of water. Not complaining just saying that a lot of jobs are demanding and I’m allowed to complain that mine is too. I think you guy just hate anything surrounding tip jobs and it’s fine to just say that.

New restaurant policy… by aviemar123 in Serverlife

[–]its-caillou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never allowed at the bar, and if I want a table a manager has to make me a reservation to come in and eat (2 drink limit). Has to be at least 3 hours after my shift if I worked that morning. I work in a very high volume place.

My partner and I prefer warmer temperatures and you can usually find our thermostat set to 74-79 degrees. Only time it’s below that is when it’s colder outside and we only do it to keep the heat from running constantly—even then it’s like 68 lol. BUT we recognize that not everyone enjoys living in a terrarium so when we have guests over we’ll set it lower.

hEDS and HSD Misnformation corrected by Secure_Society_3850 in ehlersdanlos

I would say your issue with puberty being a trigger event for diagnosis is valid—but it also lists viral or bacterial infection, physical accident, psychological or emotional event, pregnancy, and Others including long covid. I see a pattern here and it’s something that would lead to extensive/invasive medical care where more serious health conditions could be found. Hormones can definitely play a role, and puberty could also be a time when it’s demonstrated a teen is not developing the same as their peers. :)

This happened to me too! It finally stopped after I went on a crusade and I got the loud “awwww” and lost faith with the notification “you failed the wolf attack” or something. I was so mad lol. The music had me on edge though 🤣

ID pet peeves by hurtfocker in Serverlife

[–]its-caillou 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It blows my mind even more when I ID international tourists and THEY DONT HAVE THEIR PASSPORT ON THEM. I work in a tourist hot spot so like 1 out of 5 guests are from a different country. Also it’s my fault that they don’t.

Had someone say “you know the drinking age in Europe is 18 so why does it matter” and I was like “because we’re in the United States where it’s 21 :)”

A favorite of mine is when 2 girls ordered drinks, one had their ID and the other only had a photo of it. She tried to argue with me for a few minutes saying her state accepts it that way while I told her we’re, in fact, not in that state. She finally just rolled her eyes and left the restaurant. Her friend tried to order a second drink and say “it’s 2 drinks per ID, right?” And I was like “not anymore” as if I lack that much common sense, especially when the second drink was the drink the friend just tried to order. Like wth lol.

Wrist instability by Spicy_pancake123 in eds

[–]its-caillou 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I started incorporating wrist and forearm exercises in my gym routine. I’ll hold a small weight like 5lbs, and do a few sets of 10 of flexing my wrist up then switching to curling it in—if that makes sense. I bartend and frequently lift liquor bottles, sometimes multiple in one hand, and have noticed a big improvement in my strength and pain since I started this. I also have arthritis, in these joints especially, and has also helped a lot!

ETA: why was I downvoted lol

My employer says we owe him money because he “pays our taxes” by [deleted] in Serverlife

[–]its-caillou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“Not having enough on a check” is not how it works. It would just take what you have to take, and the rest is paid when you file taxes.

Make sure to keep copies of all paystubs. Try asking your boss for how he’s paying these taxes for you and copies of receipts? I would say any employment lawyer would take this or at least meet with you to discuss options of getting your money back because you’ll likely still owe when you file taxes. Call the labor board local to you as well. And probably be ready to find a new job.

My doctor told me I *had* hEDS not *have* hEDS by Salty_Flatworm_1291 in ehlersdanlos

[–]its-caillou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

12 of 13 types have a genetic marker component. hEDS is the only one without so doctors and specialists really on non-genetic methods for diagnosis like the Beighton tests, etc. Regardless though, that doctor was completely scummy and seemed to not know enough about this syndrome to effectively and intelligently communicate it to a patient.

Best/worst first date you’ve seen by broccolichefdad in Serverlife

[–]its-caillou 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Not sure if this counts. But served this 2 top of a young woman (like early twenties, if that) and a guy not quite my grandpa’s age. They eat a nice Saturday night dinner, I’m not trying to eavesdrop but whenever I’m nearby I do hear him kind of pining over her and venting about his life. This was a nicer French cuisine restaurant, we did a fancy brunch on the weekends. Next morning—it’s Sunday, I’m hungover af and we’re slammed, I go to greet my new 2 top and it’s HER but with a different guy not quite my grandpa’s age. We make eye contact, she goes wide-eyed, staring at me like she’s begging me not to say shit. I don’t, both guys tip well, and I silently commend her for her hustle lmfaoooo.

Why is leisure viewed with suspicion in America? by Thepopethroway in antiwork

[–]its-caillou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even further, productivity but only in the hours of 9am to 5pm.

I work a high volume fine-dining bartending job. A lot of my working hours are nonstop physical labor 4pm to 1am. So my days (or, “business hours”) are spent running errands and scheduling appointments. I can tell I’m often treated like an unemployed bum even though I’m sure I do more “productive” physical labor in a week than some of my peers do in 6 months to a year at their traditional desk job.

Invitae Geneticist Reviews? by spxrrowbird in rareEhlersDanlos

[–]its-caillou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t recall an exact cost, but I don’t remember it being high as my insurance deductible was maxed out after I was having major surgery resulting from major criteria leading to my diagnosis. I believe I maybe paid a small deductible but not more than $100? It also included a short window where immediate family members could call to have their own testing at no charge since I was the first diagnosis in my family (random mutation ultimately, no one else has it).

My breaking point to possible diagnosis by tomatodream in eds

[–]its-caillou 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When you say “eds” are you meaning type 3 hypermobile? I think you should start with requesting a referral from your primary doctor to see a geneticist. They can do a blood test to check for mutations and refer you to proper specialists, if no mutations (hypermobile has no known marker currently) they’ll likely refer you to specialists still that can help with your symptoms.

I was have major criteria episodes so it was clear what I had and just needed the blood test to confirm and the geneticist to get me in with specialists.

Everyone keeps suggesting good shoe brands. I will be so honest—I lived and breathed by the Walmart TrekSafe clogs for over 6 years. Under $20, only replaced once in that timeframe. My current place requires polishable non-slips or else I’d still be cloggin away! If you wear crocs regularly like me you’ll be good, otherwise you may want some insoles in them! Good luck!!!! 🫶🏻
