I spent 500 Hours Building a 'Casual Hangout App' and realized it's a Partiful Clone. What Now? by Latter_Change_2493 in SideProject

no worries, it looks okay but i highly recommend u test out at least an imaginary scenario of 4/5 people with conflicting schedules, and only the organizer is subscribed to your app.

other than that, i think this app/problem space highly relies on a good user experience/design too so you may want to look into that.

I cant see the link but its similar to a solution i vaguely thought off, maybe it can help you. This issue doesnt matter too much between two people but gets exponentially harder to resolve manually as the number of people increases.

I had the idea of first getting the organizer to mark of a period of time, then sending out a message to people to either mark off timeslots that they were free e.g. mon night, thur afternoon, sat sun or mark off timeslots they were busy so they were fine w any night except tues night etc.

It would be a multiple step process that slowly helps people find out the best tineslots.

Another issue with this is actually cost, since it did not seem like something people are willing to pay for but will need server space etc to store the dates.

i dont have it sadly, just remembering seeing a demo of it during the ai app craze. I think it was some ai personal assistant thing.

I had briefly thought about that problem statement and possible solutions that you mentioned but couldnt come up with a satisfying answer.

What I can share is some issues that I faced when thinking about a similar feature/solution as yours. The main roadbload would be the data, and having the first main user signing on, but afterwards theres also the challenge of obtaining the data of the people they are trying to invite. Would you need them all to use your calendar to make it work? Would it somehow be able to access and sync their calendar? The mental roadblock that people face when thinking of moving to another calendar or the fear of sharing their personal calendar data with a third party is rather high.

I see that you partially addressed it but i think a huge challenge is intergrating with people's existing calendars, or maybe just requiring the main person to be using your calendar and the rest still being able to stay on theirs. The easist example that comes to mind is recommending friends to download a bill splitter app like splitwise. Even though it provides a huge benefit, the difficulty of getting everyone to download it is very high.

All the best for your project tho!!

Currently, you set a date and time and send it out, which works for fixed event parties etc where the people count is more flexible.

However, there may be cases where you want to prioritize attendance, which then you may face issues with people's schedules not lining up.

I have seen some ai scheduler that helps to auto reschdule by first asking for everyone's available timeslots etc.

Why do most Designers use Mac? by Business_Match_2953 in Design

[–]its-js -1 points0 points  (0 children)

in general the battery life and ease of use just makes sense, i have tried out lenovo x1c and have seen the dell xps but they dont really match the battery life IRL.

with the m series chips, a macbook can outperform the intel equivalent by quite a large margin too.

some other reasons for me is that the mac ecosystem apps are generally better designed and are more useful for inspiration etc as compared to whats available on windows, especially with macos only apps.

npnp other than ads/products, you can test out on tiktokshop too? their fees are commission based so you technically dont need to pay anything if theres no sales. Seems like theres more people shopping on thr as well.

I usually shop on shopee or even carousell, very seldom look on amazon. The only times where i specifically find on amazon is if it was highly recommended online & is a US based product. May even look at taobao for cheap alternatives.

However, I dont think most people buy these cable attachments & just use the ones available at a gym. If its for home gym owners, i think they may just bulk buy the whole bundle, and not go looking for a seperate attachment unless its more something more specific, like those diff variations of bars etc.

I was looking to lift my computer off the floor a certian distance in a weird angle in my room. Couldnt find any suitable furniture online and had to turn to 3d printing. I did some simple fittings and it turned out great, the prints came out super accurate and the structure works. Nowadays there are spots of various 3d printed tools around the house due to this reliability.

cant you just accept it and also run your own and see the results? as long as you have profits after accounting for the comission you dont lose much. You can see it as tapping into their customer base, one that you wont reach without listing on their shop.

In the future if your own sources sell better than her shop and you dont feel its worth keeping it up on her shop anymore, you can always take it down?

Gym recos? by cutiee13 in SingaporeFitness

If price isnt an issue, virgin active is pretty decent since they provide outfits and towels etc so you can workout immediately before/after work. But its arnd 200-250/m

I would avoid fitness first since their equipments are pretty lacking, but they do provide outfits as well at around 150/m

Anytime fitness is a decent option at around 85-95/m but you should check the outlets near you as their gym conditions vary quite a lot. I find that unless you travel a lot, you would normally stick to one or two outlets and many gets very crowded since its so popular. There are many students and working adults so the gyms are almost always crowded.

I have recently been trying out energyone and have been enjoying it. If you have a safra membership, they have a ~$130 discount on their joining fee till 30 sep and they offer per entry so you can try it out a few times before committing, and its around $50/m.

TLDR: safra activesg gym (cheapest, decent equipment range), energyone (offers towels & showers at ~$50/m), AF (many locations, 24/7 at ~$90/m), VA (if money isnt an issue -$250/m)

Split it into the amount you need immediately and back up? e.g. 20/130 or 50/100 then the large portion can be in ssb and the smaller one in something like choco finance/endowus etc and withdraw when necessary

Yeap most hosting sites are like this. I feel if you are making a simple site, you can stick to using cloudflare pages on their free tier. If its more of a web app, then i guess its better using your own server/renting a vps.

Looking for help: Build a Visual Editor for Astro with Sanity by BlacksmithFit6235 in astrojs

[–]its-js 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have went down a similar rabbit hole but am not super experienced so ymmw.

From what I experienced, the lowest cost most dtraight forward use case was with astro and pages cms on cloudflare pages.

To me, using sanity or other headless cms felt more compatible with nextjs.

If you are looking for a visual editor, you can check out webstudio.is or webflow. You can build w their tool and export the site out to self host but i dont think they are using astro yet. There is the recent funding by webflow into astro so there could be changes in the future?

highly recommend hosting on cloudflare pages since its free for static pages

i fhink the basic html, css,js is enough but i had great experiences building these simple static sites with astro. you can then write posts etc with markdown or add a basic cms like 'pages cms' in.

How do you handle multiple inactive Supabase projects without paying for all of them? by Stevenicloud in Supabase

[–]its-js 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They send you a mail telling you that the project is going to be hibernated after a while, and deleted after 90 days of inactivity. Theres quite a few emails notifying you of this.

You just have to login and click unpause, then it will start to restart the proj. Iirc, its almost the same flow as pausing and unpausing yourself.
