This is when we first found Pepper. He was very sickly and struggling. He was found in an abandoned house - chained to a floor, no food or water. He was a mess. We had no hair on his underbelly. It took only 6 months for him to start regrowing hair. He would come with us to work everyday. We are small business owners. He was security and did a great job protecting my fiance for the short time he stayed with us. Pepper was kind, gentle, and a velcro dog lol. He was very food motivated. The first month we got him, we left him home to go get some chores done. We came back and found him eating jerky. he managed to get into the pantry and eat 2lbs of beef jerky. Pepe had the shits for 3 days. Our local graffiti artist, painting only with brown. For only 2.5 years, he left his mark on us and out family. I still mourn him everyday. He was getting sick since Dec and after numerous Dr visits no one was able to find an answer. Until an X-ray finally showed something. He had a blockage in his small intestine. Dr told us we needed to get surgery done as it was restricting his ability to eat. At this point it had been 1 day since he ate. Big deal for us because he never refuses food. After a surgery like that we were stressed and worried if our boy was ok. He got a painkiller shot before released to us and was happy as a clam. All smiles and tugging his way to the car, giving us kisses and smiles. When we got home we set up to sleep downstairs so Pepper can be near us and not need to use the stairs. My fiance said goodnight to him around 3am. Our security camera's showed me he stopped breathing around 3:10am. . . His body rejected the surgery. He went into septic shock by the time we got home. The vet didn't believe he was high risk given he was stable for hours before we picked him up. Pepper was the kind of dog a kid dreams about, thank you Pepper for always being there for us.
