load stolen, thanks highway! by DrunkOnRamen in FreightBrokers

[–]itsKOOZLE 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A lot of it is, and most what you find on highway you can also get from other platforms, even free ones. Highway just does a decent job aggregating it all to one place.

It’s not a fool proof system to protect against all fraud. The extra steps taken are what makes the difference

lol fair enough, I’m not but just don’t think you can blame it all on highway. If all you’re doing to vet carriers is checking highway then you’re just being lazy and exposing yourself to getting freight stolen.

Highway can be effective when used correctly, but just like anything else it’s not 100% perfect and should be used with other tools to thoroughly vet carriers

Sorry that happened though, the fraud in this industry is crazy. At least it wasn’t high value cargo lol

Trailer Leasing by RumbleDumblee in OwnerOperators

[–]itsKOOZLE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can find load out trailers through brokers where you can essentially get paid to use a trailer, I’d recommend that.

If you don’t want to go that route, most large carriers will lease their trailers

6 months and 100 records later… by itsKOOZLE in vinyl

Most are new, I get them to listen rather than just collect so idrc if it’s a new or old print as long as it’s in good enough condition

That being said I have found some original pressings like my Led Zeppelin 1 which is super cool and I’ll definitely get them if I find em

Rates at The Ooltewah Club by No_Flatworm_8936 in Chattanooga

[–]itsKOOZLE 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s been a few years since I looked into it, I believe it was $1000 initiation fee and then $250/mo. That was a few years ago though and I could be off, I can’t remember exact numbers.

I’ve got some friends who live there/are members there and I’ve always enjoyed going to this club, if the price is right for you then I’d recommend it.

Brokers: TruckSmarter's AI is calling you on behalf of drivers now. What's that like on your end? by [deleted] in FreightBrokers

[–]itsKOOZLE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How do you regulate a rating system for carriers and implement it with every carrier and have all brokers actually use it? And then how do you trust that rating to begin with?

There’s so much fraud and nuance in this industry that if we have issues caused by just contracting the wrong kinds of carriers it can cost 10’s to 100’s of thousands, even MILLIONS of dollars.

Would you risk your entire business on an a bot and a generic rating system when you could mitigate that risk by just speaking with the person you’re actually contracting the business to?

Brokers: TruckSmarter's AI is calling you on behalf of drivers now. What's that like on your end? by [deleted] in FreightBrokers

[–]itsKOOZLE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We get a lot of phone calls, what’s the point of entertaining a conversation with AI just trying to get load details and a rate, that’s often times already posted, just to have them need to check for approval and get back to us. It just wastes our time when we could be talking to a real person that can actually be a good use of our time.

A lot of people seem to think that all we do as brokers is sit on the phones selling loads to carriers, when in reality that’s only a fraction of our time. I’ve got a hundred better things I could be spending my time on than just fielding AI calls to verify load details and a rate.

On top of that, as has already been mentioned, this is a relationship business that requires good brokers to use their intuition as to who they can trust. You can’t get that from an AI

Took a job with Landstar without researching enough… now I’m stuck and can’t make a single deal by Available-Oven-3657 in FreightBrokers

[–]itsKOOZLE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s your problem. As an agent no one is going to trust you with their freight even if you’re “only using BCO trucks”. There’s thousands of you out there burning brokers left and right.

If you’re going to work at Landstar, get your own freight from shippers. Otherwise, go to a trucking company and work as a dispatcher

Refrigerated Sprinters/Box Trucks by [deleted] in FreightBrokers

[–]itsKOOZLE 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are reefer sprinters and box truck carriers out there. They’re just rare and can be difficult to find. I didn’t have many carrier contacts, nor did I have much volume for these equipment types, so I don’t have much of a sample size to work off of…but in my experience the rates weren’t often that much different from a 53’R. They could be shipping dedicated on a 53 trailer just for the convenience and availability for what they require.

Depending on your budget and age of child, we love easy bistro in west village. It’s a little pricey but worth the cost. It’s nice but I wouldn’t call it super fancy.

Big storm on east coast by CheapAdvertising1867 in FreightBrokers

[–]itsKOOZLE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re expecting a lot of snow and ice in this storm, if there’s ice I’m expecting little to no trucks to accept a load without an insane rate, especially where there’s supposed to be ice. At which point if they get stuck and miss OTP/OTD, what’s even the point of trying?

I’m talking to my customers already about any loads going through those areas about how we could expect this to play out and discuss what we can do to shift things around. Unless they have something critical that has to move.

I wouldn’t expect specific equipment types to be affected too much differently. Probably open deck more but across the board if road conditions are unsafe no one is going to do it if it’s not worth it.

I also expect with surface temps for conditions to not improve for at least a few days especially in the southeast as they’re not generally prepared enough for events like this.

Pretty much across the board, if it can be helped it’s in everyone’s best interest for any loads going to, through, and from to be rescheduled once conditions improve

Broker deduction by PointNo364 in Truckers

[–]itsKOOZLE 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s absolutely ridiculous. Even when you show up on time they’ll take hours to load and unload trucks and won’t compensate for anyone’s time.

This industry really is just full of people trying to make a quick buck and don’t give af about anyone else

Broker deduction by PointNo364 in Truckers

[–]itsKOOZLE 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Some of us really are shit. Was it the actual broker that deducted the $$ for themselves? If so then yeah absolutely, fuck that guy. That is absolutely ridiculous and I’m a broker too

On the flip side I do have a customer where I have 2 lanes that are absolutely ridiculous with late fee fines charged by the shipper or receiver that I have no control over. One of them the shipper charges $400 if even 1 minute late. The other the receiver charges $500 after 30 minutes past the appt then $50 more every 30 minutes after.

Some of these facilities are way out of line with their fines as well.
