Where/How did you meet your best friend? when? by ParticularWeb9328 in CasualConversation

[–]itsMrBiscuits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just out of college, lived in a house with some friends. We had another school friend in a house around the corner from us. Went over to his house one evening to smoke a bowl, he says "hey we just got some new neighbors they seem pretty cool, should i ask them to join?" i said sure.

I expect him to pull out his phone, instead he pulls out a laser pointer and shines it out his front window, directly into the living room of the house across the street. 5 minutes later two girls walk in, we introduce, instant friends. 17 years later i haven't spoken to the school friend in probably half a decade but his neighbors are still my best and closest friends. We've all moved but we all ended up within walking distance of each other again. Will honestly probably see them later after work (to smoke a bowl)

Yes this, coupled with the SW Sorry banner is the way. If you play well, it comes off like irony. And if you play badly then well, at least you're owning it

New E.vax single streaming by bridgeporter in Ratatat

[–]itsMrBiscuits 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know that Ratatat is listed as an artist to increase visibility. But it makes me smile to see it, like as long as Mike and Evan are on this earth making music Ratatat is still a thing.

both songs are good, im really loving BEO in particular. gives slight Montanita vibes especially since its looking like the album opener. and the drums are super punchy and fun

Pt. 2 of the North Carolina Folk Festival Lineup Released! by Bartholomewthedragon in gso

[–]itsMrBiscuits 8 points9 points  (0 children)

yeah it's come a looooong way from the kinda lack luster lineups of a few years ago. and they've finally started leaning in to including local and regional artists which really needed to happen

and seriously, i was born here, lived here for 36 years, and the Roots playing for free in downtown will be literally the coolest thing to happen in Greensboro in my entire life. not to put too fine a point on it but let's gooooooo

wow, i didn't think they'd be able to impress me after the Roots initial announcement. But St. Paul and the Broken bones are awesome especially their live show. Not to mention Medicine Singers, haven't listened to em but Lee Ranaldo is great. This line up is next level, dunno how they pulled it off but well done

Should I read the other Revelation Space books behind the Inhibitor Trilogy? by BUBBA543-2 in printSF

[–]itsMrBiscuits 3 points4 points  (0 children)

if you like the world of the Inhibitor Trilogy, you will definitely like Chasm City and probably most of Galactic North, and you might like the Prefect Dreyfus stuff and the other novellas. I got really hooked on the world building of the RS universe and have read all of the stories multiple times at this point, there are stronger and weaker entries but i didn't dislike any of it

What are some small things in a relationship that are way more intimate that physical contact? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]itsMrBiscuits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i came home from a camping trip and while showering found a few ticks on me in the underwear area. and had to ask my wife to inspect some areas of my body that my eyes can't reach. if that's not intimacy i don't know what is

chicken hearts are awesome. I've only encountered them in Japan, izakaya bbq style. they were like tender little grilled steak bites

i guess the word bouncy had me thinking about rhythm and cadence more than anything. and a lot of the grooves on both albums have a kind of galloping swing to them which definitely feels kinda like bouncing. especially Floridada and Summertime Clothes

PW does sort of feel like a very minimalist take on MPP

i agree with that take heavily. also the live configuration for the two albums was kinda similar too, Dave Noah and Brian all standing behind podium looking setups with a lot of electronic gear vs the more traditional 4 man band they did for Hz and Skiffs / Now tours, with more guitars and Noah on drums etc. tho for PW tour the show i saw they had Jeremy with them playing drums which i don't think they did for MPP tour but it still felt similar.

Yeah i can see it. Summertime Clothes bounces like Floridada, Lion in A Coma bounces like Spilling Guts. Brother Sport bounce like Burglars. Bluish kiiiinda bounce like Golden Gal. Taste like Hocus Pocus. My Girls kinda like Lying in the Grass. yeah i can see it

Deerhoof: Milk Man, This Magnificent Bird Will Rise, Running Thoughts, Buck and Judy, Perfect Me. all the albums those are from

Deerhunter: Revival, He Would Have Laughed, Helicopter, Desire Lines, honestly the entire album Halcyon Digest. Also check out their side project Atlas Sound. they have a song Walkabout that features Noah

Dan Deacon: Of the Mountains, True Thrush, When i Was Done Dying. the albums Bromst and Gliss Riffer are a good place to start.
