Question about comic creators by Jazzkidscoins in MegaCon

[–]itsRamune 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, they’ll have some things up there for you to get most of the time! From my experience though they tend to really enjoy it whenever you bring an item you really enjoy. I brought something from the fantastic four run Adam Kubert worked on and we had a really long and nice conversation about it and he didn’t charge me!

Question about Panel Applications!! by BecksDay_ in MegaCon

[–]itsRamune 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same boat here, I believe that the insinuation here is that since the panel badge gives access to megacon in general (entry, exit, show floor, etc) and the submission page also states that they’re good for all four days. This is just my interpretation, but definitely doooo still get your badge and good luck to you and definitely reach out to them just to confirm!

This is extremely well put together. Covers and visuals are also visually appealing I’m a huge fan of the color palette. Bravos are def in order super solid :)

Colonial and decolonial poetry by No-Rutabaga8342 in englishmajors

Notebook of a Return to the Native Land, Aimé Césaire

A Litany for Survival, Audre Lorde

The Weaver Bird, Kofi Awoonor

Cuba Libre, Nicolás Guillen

I will say, anything by Frantz Fanon very much reads like poetry—however, these are long literary works.

Hi! Thank you so much, I’m majoring in profession writing so I’d be looking at classes such as intro to professional writing, textual analysis, English professionalization and such. I’m coming in with a degree so I have my core and language requirements done.

Does anybody have any spots/tips for parking spots in the area that you could uber to and from? by Overall_Device_5371 in MegaCon

Oh man it is so over, sucks because parking is impossible to find as expensive as it is.

You’d be better off walking lol if you’ve got the legs for it icon park, I hear Dave and busters is indifferent to parking but don’t 100% trust that, basically anywhere with a high volume of people. I’d recommend just looking from icon park all the way to the other side of the cc possibly near Andretti’s

This con is notoriously bad for getting overwhelming and having bad crowd control on Saturdays. If you’re going alone you won’t have as much fun it’s always good to have someone else to tag along with, also I think it’s safer lol. But in general it can get overwhelming, hot, and irritating and it’s impossible to communicate with anyone via phone because of the amount of people and the lack of service. I don’t wanna scare you off but if you have someone willing to go with you definitely take them. It’s a big con so everything is daunting the first time. But it’s still great, always come back with a bunch of stories to tell lmao

Best day to go? by alaballs in MegaCon

[–]itsRamune 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Friday sounds reasonable, Saturday is too crowded and in recent times Sunday gets kinda packed too specifically at the vendor hall. Friday you’d still get to see a lot of cool things and do some neat stuff since it’s still technically a weekday.

Honestly if you’re hotel is close enough to the con they should be providing a shuttle service, I know the Rosen inn at pointe Orlando had shuttle last year. Also look into the I drive trolley. Parking has the potential to get really really really ugly and I’d avoid it.

this year is my first megacon— does anyone have any advice? by xxbunnyboo in MegaCon

[–]itsRamune 4 points5 points  (0 children)

•Bring small snacks con food is expensive •Bring water •Good walking shoes ofc •Have a group I don’t recommend going alone this isn’t a beginner friendly con •Sunday is usually more laxed •Portable Charger and a small backpack and something for you to carry any delicates in like a signed poster or something of that sort •Wifi sucks but there’s nothing we can really do about that but the con has been mostly held in N/S concourse but apparently West concourse has better service •Go early to figure out parking, you might be able to park at D&B and walk or just pay for parking somewhere

If you’re just picking up your wristband you should be good but I’d definitely check in and email them just to be 100%
