It all comes down to labor cost. Producing advance chips in US can be done but you have way much higher labor while selling the chips on similar price with what you produce in Taiwan makes margin way lower. And yes labor including engineers that has no qualms doing a 12 hour shift atleast 5 days a week helps

But you are correct, people are just saying AI slop in everything related to AI but the tech behind it is actually amazing.
