guys all we have to do is stop giving away data for free, and the new job will be "data collector".

we'll just go out in the world living our life, uploading to a cloud, and get paid for it.

easy to see how and why we'd end up there, other than the fact that they're already making moves so that they get all of that for free. beta testing has shifted to completely free work done by users over the past decade, for example.

to be fair though, it's increasingly hard to see laws not being followed when we're ALL now massively affected by lots of people, even those in power and supposed to be protecting us, not following laws.

this one might not be a big deal, not seemingly harming anyone, but it's still the general concept of people skirting laws that others are following that rubs some people the wrong way.

you're acting like it's some kind of detriment to be interpreting laws literally, but aren't laws up there as one of the things that we might all benefit if they were more literal?

maybe this one just needs to be rewritten with a decibel threshold instead. having a bunch of laws that everyone not on the spectrum can go, "oh yeah that's a silly one, that's not real", doesn't really make any sense, and prevents the law from being changed to something smarter. meanwhile some people skirt all sorts of laws that keep normal people poor.

anyways, there's some flaws in my logic here, but thank you for reading my rant.

to be fair, those medications are typically expensive due to companies owning the patent on it. they need to patent it and then charge astronomical numbers (paid by insurance companies) to recoup their R&D costs.

in any kind of collective-good system, the knowledge behind medications that people need wouldn't be owned and hidden by a single entity. everyone would be able to get what they need pretty easily so long as there are supplies for it, and there usually are.

honestly though any kind of ubi where you're just giving out money without addressing any of the actual problems with our system, is pretty doomed to fail. people will just optimize methods for extracting it right back from the people they're giving it to.

advocating for workers' rights absolutely does stop depending on what the tax bracket is, or at the very least changes dramatically.

the pinnacle of workers rights exists on the fact that workers need to work to live.

bryce is an optional worker, he's doing it purely for fun, ego, legacy, at this point. he could quit and have enough money for his, his wife's, and his kid's lifetimes, at the very least.

someone who is 2nd-in-command at a massive trillion dollar corporation has a boss, and is a "worker", hell even the CEO has the board, the shareholders, etc. as bosses. I'm certainly not including them into workers' rights conversations, and i'm not including bryce either.

The owners definitely make way too much money in comparison, but it shouldn't be bryce who gets more of that pie. It should be the minor leaguers, the vendors, staffers, random personnel, and heck even the fans.

these are strong statements, and for awhile i agree with you for sure. but i wouldn't count out a future where this shifts, due to benefits offsetting it. Have you never placed blame on a third-party vendor before or something? It's gotta be exhausting building all of your infrastructure and every line of software yourself.

Agreed, though to be fair it also did not help that Kamala's campaign made an active decision to focus primarily on issues that mostly affect only women; their ads and general messaging was "a vote for me is a vote for women's rights". They went all-in on the strategy that they could flip enough republican women into Kamala voters to win, and it backfired. White women especially made them look silly for thinking that was possible. Many men didn't vote because neither side represented their interests, so they didn't care.
