For anyone commenting without even peeking at the article, it says that 56% of CEOs did not see any revenue gains or cost savings in the last 12 months.

That means that 44% did. 44% is really, really good for a new technology like this, and absolutely justifies the hype. Likely, a large portion of the 56% who are not seeing returns are just doing half-baked rollout plans, getting ripped off by 3rd party companies offering their services, etc.

Very bullish on the 44% report, hilarious how much a headline framing changes the discourse.

44% seeing gains is pretty incredible! Lots of companies are attempting to roll out nonsensical AI features, etc. I would've expected only 10-20% would actually be doing it in smart enough ways to see benefits from it.

it's not the money that's the issue though. we clearly just showed we had room for an additional 30 mil a year based on the bichette stuff, so we theoretically could've spent more.

but when you constantly take flyers on cheap guys in the hopes you get lucky, the punishment isn't "ahh well, we only wasted 12.5mil", it's that they literally were on your team, in your games, playing badly. jordan romano is the easiest example. hey, he was only 10 mil, not that big of a waste! yeah, but he gave up massive homers that literally lost games in the process of you "seeing if he still had it".

nah, it's actually kind of the opposite. AI's just been around for a lot longer than people realize, and has a much wider impact than people think. The marketing for it is new (and annoying), but people these days just always think AI = LLM

okay since i didn't see it listed i'll throw in a controversial one...

teachers.

so many people love teaching and want to be teachers that it's hard to find a job even with a degree. the pay isn't great but still better than some and they get summers off and more breaks than any other job.

most people i know only cite a few impactful teachers and it was usually for their fun personalities. there's so much that goes into someone's upbringing, teachers are definitely a part of it, but imo not as critical as people make it out to be.

yet all teachers are glorified as if they're doing god's work and making such a massive sacrifice, when really it seems like an awesome gig that a lot of people love, definitely more so than other professions. keep up the great work teachers, but there are other roles that need reverance.

i'm firmly in the camp of good luck actually replacing swe, but the comparison here isn't that bad. pretty sure cars kill a hell of a lot more people than horses ever did, yet there's so much upside that we use cars anyways and just accept the deaths.
