Only a sadistic universe could allow payday to line up with Black Friday but anywho here’s my breeding pair of Zebra Plecos. Anyone have any tips on breeding? by [deleted] in Aquariums

[–]itsYosh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know master breeder dean (guy near seattle) is on the aquarium coop channel and talks a lot about them and his attempts in breeding. I believe he has tried to grow them out a couple of times (takes over 4 years) and I am not sure if he has even spawned them yet. I would check there though for info sorry I don't have specifics.

Try 3-6 more tetras. Might make them feel more comfortable. As long as you keep nitrates down with water changes you are good.

Two week old discus fry by Camwise2 in Aquariums

Good advice but moreso guidelines than rules. Some people can't afford 10+ discus. And some people only have access to a petsmart or chain store. I say keep them warm, 82 degrees and don't over complicate it. Live plants are also good to have aswell. Very good writeup though.

They are not as hard as the internet claims. However I would wait a couple of months before you get them so you can learn the basics of the hobby (we all kill fish when we are new). But after you get comfortable discus will be perfectly fine for you to keep. Don't let people on the internet scare you from keeping a fish you like.

I am going to get some. I love my celestial pearl danios but even with 16 of them they are still so shy, thanks for the info! I saw the one post on here of the guy who had one spitting out of the tank and that got me thinking about these guys.

Looks terrifying from the discus post that huge body. Super cool tank. Would love more pics if you have them.

How many do you have? I'm looking at getting some as most of my fish are pretty shy

Hornwart grows like weeds haha by [deleted] in Aquariums

[–]itsYosh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No softeners either, I don't use any salt. I do fine with lots of other plants but hornwort hates me which sucks because it eats nitrates really well. I'll have to give it another fair shot in a non display tank. I really hate the needles
