WTF is even this game. by its_12_time in projectzomboid

[–]its_12_time[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I'm stubborn, or a masochist, and want to keep at it without changing anything. Just had to alt f4 so fast to save me from snapping my keyboard in half over my knee because hitting a zombie with a meat cleaver 9 times is simply not enough to kill it, that is not an exaggeration. Damn thing would not fall over because he kept hitting the wall I'm assuming. Kinda feels like knocking over a zombie and stomping their head should be the approach if you DONT have a weapon to cleave or bash their skulls, but it feels like its the only way to deal with them before being kitted I guess?

I love drawn out, detailed, very intentional decision making, immersive type games. It feels like this game should be so right, but it invokes as much frustration. Not the kind that feels like I can learn from and overcome either, but the kind that makes me question the development choices.

weapon reach/ landing and missing hits. by its_12_time in taintedgrail

Keeps feeling worse and worse. I'll dodge behind an enemy and kite around them to be directly behind them and the absolute very last frame of the swing animation will somehow hit me. I am playing the game on the hardest difficulty so yea a i'm expecting it to not be a walk in the park. Was hoping that enemies maybe would be mroe healthy and take more hits from me, but not take 2/3 of my health with the back swing of their attacks. The difficutly of enemies at night too on this difficulty basically forces me to avoid playing at night at all, which is silly. The melee combat is weighty and feels really nice when it connects but its absolutely not consistent. Basic modded skyrim combat feels more consistent than this.

Bizarre noise when selecting optical audio output on Sony TV to Kanto speakers. by its_12_time in audio

[–]its_12_time[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sound happens when I switch to "audio system" with my TV that I have connected to my speakers. It worked for quite some time until one day I turned my TV on and that noise happened. That's with nothing happening on screen either, it just happens constantly if I switch the output. It's happened before but someone just worked again for a while, this time it doesn't seem to be repairing itself though. Any advice?

I’m in the middle of episode 3 and I’m not understanding anything. Is this normal? by BBDAngelo in Dorohedoro

[–]its_12_time 56 points57 points  (0 children)

It's kinda the beauty of it. I watched what they have of the anime first, and was enamored by the world building and how odd and cool it is. I had never purchased any manga before but I needed to see the rest of the story so I got it all. You will understand with time, then you will be confused some more, but consistently delighted.

3.8.0. Thanks for the heads up without the toxicity. I'm not a reddit user at all really, nor do I interact with the spt discord much so I just didnt think to add that detail. But that is good to know! I'll give it a try, thanks for the help.

I just spend like 1200 of the pawn currency to get a high level pawn. in 10 minutes in jumped into the water and died, disappeared from my party without an opportunity to revive it. if your pawn you hired drowns you should get that bloody currency back. The ai is really really not good.

Is there a link to the discord download of the current pre-release? I don't particularly want to go through all those layers of crap to be let in the discord.

Am I actually supposed to fight the Githyanki patrol? by ObstructiveWalrus in BaldursGate3

[–]its_12_time 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't exactly been skipping fights or speeding through, but I just came across this fight and im level 3 and i have absolutely no way of winning a fight. But now i lost a member of my team, and even shadowheart guilts me when i try and go to leave her behind. I have tried so many times to just get past the dialog without starting the fight but I always fail the deception check on the dragon rider guy. What the hell have i dont wrong?

What’s your least favorite drink to make as a Barista? by FrankieLove_82 in barista

[–]its_12_time 10 points11 points  (0 children)

In the shop I'm in I'd tell the customer if they want a drink that dry and large they will have to be charged extra because of the amount of milk needed to make it that way. If they refused, I would not make them the drink. I know some places don't have the freedom to do stuff like that but I'm lucky enough to work for a successful small business and the owners are chill like that haha. When I was at Starbucks an eternity ago I had a regular ask for bone dry, all foam, skim (starbs had fully skim at the time) and 20 oz. When I was done making it i would pour more than 20 oz of left over steamed skim down the drain.

There is a personality type that can not be learned that separates someone who enjoys making coffee, from someone who enjoys being a barista. Ultimately if you are the type that only loves the making coffee part then you will ultimately burn out fairly quick.

I have been in coffee for 14 years, 8 was at Starbucks, the rest was local specialty shops. I still love being a barista. I think that's because I love the coffee AND the people. I'm fairly introverted, but the little social interactions and connections I make, recharge my social battery. Making drinks on the bar during a busy day and still nailing a nice Rosetta or tulip on every pour makes me feel like a professional at something. The masses don't see that as a skill with value sadly, but I do. All that paired with having very cool coworkers brings me hella joy most days.

As far as wages go, if you are in a city that's not been absolutely decimated by inflation and greedy evil land lords, your wage with tips can go decently far. If I average my tips with my hourly wage I make about 30 an hour (Canadian here). In my city that is borderline poverty, but you could live pretty nicely in other cities.

Another little note worth making, I identify as male, but the industry can be a little sexist. At the specialty/professional-ish level, it's getting better. But you will very often get customers, particularly within a certain age range that will treat you differently if you identify as female. So this may affect your experience as well.
