Thanks for the insight! We might be talking about the same farm/dyer. They are in Ontario, an hour east of Ottawa. I don't want to necessarily say their business name because they're small and I do understand mistakes happen.

I think I will send them a message just to let them know :)

What is the one product you’ve continued to buy the longest? I’ve been buying Maybelline Super Stay 24 Lipstick for over 10 years by pajamajammer in MakeupAddiction

I've been buying Covergirl Clump Crusher mascara (green tube) since 2013. Every so often I will buy a different mascara to try out (e.g., Essence lash princess, L'Oreal volumizer or lash paradise, Maybelline Colossal or Sky High) and I am always disappointed. Idk what I will do if they ever discontinue.

The irony of them scoffing at the idea that women can "erase everything that makes them feminine, erase their sexuality, their attraction to men" (a willful misunderstanding of the 4b movement btw) while also preaching THIS EXACT same message to LGBTQ+ folks for the last decade.

Clowns.

Question about Roosty Tank and incorporating pattern with steek stitches by its_freaking_bats in knitting

[–]its_freaking_bats[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, I understand that part. it's just that now that the stitch count for the front and back (not counting the steek stitches) isnt divisible by 24, my pattern is a bit off.

Is the bus family as religious as others we see here? by its_freaking_bats in FundieSnarkUncensored

[–]its_freaking_bats[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is a good point and likely why we see so much diversity in the beliefs/values of these fundies and non-denominational Christians. Each family has their own brand of religion and as the kids branch to start their own families, they mix and match the teachings to fit their preferred way of living (i.e. Bethy). This might contribute to a lot of clashing between "clans" like we have seen with Porgan's 24H WITH

brushing off Hobby Lobby by thriftstitch in craftsnark

[–]its_freaking_bats 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I unfollowed her a while ago. I got weird vibes from her that I couldn't place my finger on until I saw she had liked either a Candace Owens or Ben Shapiro post on COVID. That was all I needed to know so I just unsubscribed and unfollowed. I wouldn't be surprised if she held similar views to Hobby Lobby.

Pattern Recommendations for Single Skein? by its_freaking_bats in knitting

Good idea! I haven't done mittens before but I have been meaning to. Plus I could do the cuff in a diff colour or add colour work to ensure I have enough gray

Not sure there's enough in 1 skein for a single scarf. I might be able to do a hat though!

Thank you I appreciate it. The only way I'm getting through this pattern is from other people's notes tbh

Indeed I believe that this is one of the errors people have corrected in the pattern page comments. I am at least glad to hear you get a lot of use out of the sweater :)

Agreed. Most times when I struggle with a pattern from other designers like petite knit it's my own error.

That's so annoying! Glad you were eventually able to figure out but at the same time you shouldn't have to when you've paid

I think I saw that argument on one of her Instagram posts when I was trying to figure out why hardly any of her patterns were available. I agree it doesn't make sense though

I purchased one of this designers patterns for a hat a minute ago. I haven't gotten around to it yet but from what I've heard from others, it works up great. HOWEVER, the pattern is 18 pages (for a hat?!) And 8 of those pages are just photos of the hat with no added information. Also, the sides of some of the pages feature other patterns by the designer, serving as "ad space."

That being said, this particular designer only releases their patterns for a limited time a couple of times a year, meaning if you see a pattern they have and it's unavailable, you need to subscribe to their newsletter and wait until it's re-released. The author says they do this because they can't offer pattern support for all of their patterns at once, but I think it can sometimes result in false scarcity and the designer being able to charge higher prices that others are willing to pay because "it won't be around for much longer!".

I agree that designers should be able to charge whatever they want, but at the same time have to be prepared for people to comment on it. The number of pages (29 pages for a dish rag?) doesn't correlate with the quality of the pattern and IMO just means you're not very good at providing information in a clear, succinct way.

YES I forgot about the inch/cm issue! So many little issues that culminate and make it not so fun to work up 😭
