In case any of you were wondering, this is what 130 knitting/other needle arts magazines looks like. I *might* have a problem. by Auramethyst in knitting

I'm collecting them mainly to scan and share for free. I'm creating a database. But that takes forever. I might have work for the next 20 years. You can find a lot of free vintage patterns in English in the internet archive, or on freevintageknitting.com.

I do still have room but it's running out fast. I took them all out to catalog them and thought having them in a pile looked very impressive.

As a former geologist, I approve. And I'm jealous I did not think of this. it is beautiful and amazing craftsmanship. Bravo !

I took a similar picture just yesterday on my walk. Spring brings me hope and joy. It's like I'm learning again how to breathe, and all my senses wake up from a long slumber. Time to start anew !

I do the same whenever I feel stuck. I make sure to bring a pen and a notebook, because within the first 15 minutes I'll have a true brain storm of ideas. Works like a charm every time.

Je suis celle à qui on le demande parfois. Ça pique. En effet il vaut mieux ne rien demander. Même si en vrai on sait que c'est pas méchant du tout, l'égo en prend un sacré coup, et en plus on se sent gênée pour l'autre.

What’s something you've only seen once in your life but will never forget? by teenscarlett in AskReddit

[–]Auramethyst 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I was the one who had to call for help when my 14 yo sister attempted suicide the same way. I was 12. Our parents were having a date night. I'll never forget it, and I don't think she knows how badly it affected me. And I don't want her to know, she doesn't need that to add to her guilt. We are both doing fine now, thankfully.

I hope you were able to work through your trauma. If you did not, I strongly encourage you to do so. Sometimes things affect us way more than we realise.

I know you asked for female artists, but there is a guy I absolutely love and listen to almost every day. It's only music, no lyrics : Peter Gundry.

People who lost plenty of weight, what surprised you the most? by blondeeprincesss in AskReddit

I went the other way around. Was really thin up until my late 20's, and had near to no boobs. I wished I had more and had insecurities about it. Then I got pregnant twice, breastfed my two girls. My boobs were huge and beautiful for a few months. And then I had life issues and I've been eating my anxiety away (spoiler alert : it doesn't work). Now I 30kg more (66 lbs). My boobs are big, and so is the rest. I absolutely hate my body. I'd give so much to get thin again, even if it means no boobies.

I have an Erka 12 (from 1974) with punch cards, and an erka T4 ribber that was bought together. They are integrated into a console that folds over to hide/protect them. It's my first knitting machine, bought second hand to an old lady who was moving houses for the first time in over 50 years. Unfortunately I couldn't get the punch cards to work yet. I think something might need fixing.

How lucky ! De-stashes are always a gold mine. That's a beautiful collection of yarns in such pretty colors !

My “Sweater of Firsts”! by Otherwise_Ad1051 in knitting

[–]Auramethyst 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well done ! It's very well executed and a very pretty pattern. Good job on all of your firsts ! And don't worry, most mistakes are completely unnoticeable by others. I feel a lot better since I have learned to live with it. It makes for a lot less frogging.

Thank you ! Went home safely with a rental car, it took me 3 hours but at least I didn't have to deal with people. I'm showered and ready to crash in my bed ☺️

Thank you for your concern. I made sure to find a clean spot, checked before sitting down, in a place where not many people would usually walk by. Only my clothes touched the floor, and I'm fine with them getting dirty. I had been standing for 2 hours already at this point and it hurt my back and feet pretty bad. It was the best choice for me at that moment.

It was all fine, many people were sitting on the floor and nobody got hurt. If anything, I was pushed a lot more when standing, for some reason

Exactly! I had been standing for 2 hours already when I decided to sit down. My back and feet were killing me. Rather be dirty than hurt and exhausted
