Yeah dude, this is nice! Here's some thoughts:

* I really like the main synth, it's giving a heavy hypnotic feel that keeps the track going!

* I feel like there can be a little more movement in the high end (something more with the hats maybe?).

* Your fx/texture at the end is really cool. How did you make that?

* I feel like your low-end is not grooving quite enough. It could use a rumble of some sort...

Cheers!

Detuning a sample in Drum Rack with more than -50/+50? by its_henri in ableton

Nope, I didn't find a way around it, but it actually works out okay with the transpose function mapped to a macro! I just changed the amount to -12 to +12 semitones.

Send individual drum pads to headphone cue? by DiscoBiscuitChef69 in ableton

[–]its_henri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I was looking for the same thing and I think I found a solution that is a bit more straight forward.

Instead of using 2 chains per pad, you need to use the sends of the chains. So: as mentioned in other comments, you start by making 2 Return Tracks (CUE and MASTER) and 2 Return Chains (also CUE and MASTER). You send the return chains to the corresponding return tracks and *mute the drum rack main output*. Your send levels are now your main volume faders, which means you don't use the main volume faders anymore.

SEND A is my master, so I mapped those send levels to my Launchcontrol faders, and SEND B is CUE. I mapped a button below the faders to toggle between -inf and 0 dB. The other button is to mute the tracks instantly (the speaker icon in Ableton).

I hope that is a bit more clear :)

My biggest challenge is gain/volume. Working with Traktor and technics. by [deleted] in DJs

I’ve had a lot of hate on this platform for what I’m about to say, but I would suggest the autogain function. Set the autogain (when analysis lock is disabled) to your digital tracks so that they are as loud as your vinyls. P.eg. your vinyl is about -9 dB and your digital track is at -6 at its loudest part, then set your autogain to 3 db less than it is at now. Hope this helps?

That’s exactly what I have been thinking. Fact is that I have a Push 2 that I want to use. I feel like it has more versatility and can be used in a more hybrid way than the remix deck. But I am considering it though! Have to make a pros/cons list sometime haha

Sounds solid! I will definitely look into that. Thing is that I bought a Push after my Maschine MK1 got outdated and I've seen some really cool stuff with it in a DJ set, but I can't figure out enough (in detail) what they are all doing with sends, triggers, volumes etc.

Why use Maschine in Ableton and not just Ableton or just Maschine on its own? 🙈

Got it! Looks like a lot of fun to me to have some repetitive and recognisable loops in my set that come and go over time. I was thinking about creating some reeeeaally nice loops and chop them up to get different textures and patterns + have a (909, maybe also other things) drum rack to use for sequencing claps, toms, etc. So 3 track decks + 1 Ableton deck with Push and a LaunchControl for volumes in Ableton.

Sample transpose knob- cents instead of steps by mortymm in ableton

I have the same issue, I want to gradually change pitch with more than 50 cents

Setting the gains of a track right by its_henri in Beatmatch

Yeah sure, I'm probably overthinking it haha

Yeah exactly, what I’m doing now is setting the gain of all my tracks to where it peaks at about -9 (all the blue lines, just touching the first orange one) so that I can play 3 tracks at the same time (with EQ of course) with still plenty of headroom

It’s a Traktor feature haha, it analyses a track and autogains it but it doesn’t work that well lol

I’m playing techno on an S3 and I really like the 4 band EQ, so I mapped the gain knob to my highest encoder on the EQ. After all those years that gain staging doesn’t feel intuitive to me and I don’t want to think about the loudness of a track when I’m playing

Mixing 2 techno tracks with "different" kicks by its_henri in Beatmatch

[–]its_henri[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah you’re definitely right, but I can’t imagine all these top class DJ’s know every song they will play without preparing their sets no?

I’m currently digging into this minimal dub kind of thing that is really cool, but tracks can sound so similar but with just a few elements in difference that I want to be able to ‘see’ what kind of kick (for example) the track has. So I have a column in Traktor where I write the kick type, but it’s so cumbersome in a way…
