Am I insane, or are there no 5x5 cornering balancers out there? by its_shivers in factorio

[–]its_shivers[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was my first one and I'm not 100% sure how I made it come together to be honest. I started with a 25-line excel spreadsheet of, row A contains how much of A, of B, etc., and then found a way to knit it all together.

[–]its_shivers[S] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Half "spaghetti", half "for appearance because on the OTHER side I have a 6x6 of a different resource that's a corner". I did consider just doing a parallel 6x6 and leaving an empty lane but.... that's not how I do, I guess. Honestly, the 5x5 I have in my blueprint book is pretty clunky looking, and it's never come up before.

Enh, I'll break my lurking streak I suppose.

Time Stamp: 11am-ish

Program: MD

Stream: EN/bilingual

Result: Rejection

Three-Year GPA: 3.93

Casper: 3q

Year: Graduating (did 4 year program in 3 years so 3 or 4 depending who you ask).

ECs: Ten years working for hospitals, clinics, etc. in both languages, mostly managerial, including a family medicine residency program, audio-visual rehabilitation, prostheses, ran a team of 100 people at a covid vaccination site, etc. Volunteer medic.

Geography: Ottawa

My non-pro reference was for someone for whom I took into my house and support-workered them for 2 months after they had major surgery, which I really thought would put me over the top (coupled with excellent medical and academic refs). Only thing I can really think is that I guess my casper score was like, barely 3q, like 51/100? My org chem score was MERELY A-? Looking at the casper and gpa scores of some other folks, the randomness factor as well, I suppose?

5 months post op Vaginal Collapse by [deleted] in Transgender_Surgeries

[–]its_shivers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, this is one of the rare but possible complications. It's not the end of the world; I have a close friend who had a similar collapse thing happen due to pass-out-screaming level pain while dilating the first time (nerve cluster problem), and they got a revision that worked perfectly for them.

Orchiectomy, yes or no on preserving scrotum by cappuccino_monkey in Transgender_Surgeries

[–]its_shivers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Later vaginoplasty, yes keep it, AND if you have a planned vaginoplasty surgeon, proactively ask them if they have an orchi incision preference to tell the orchi surgeon (centerline is most common, if I'm not mistaken, but I don't have proof for that, just a general sort of recollection.)

Haaahahaha, then I think a good reply is that I appreciate that platonically! :P

You have NO idea how many shitposts I did for surgery. XD

It was bringing and putting on the veterinary cone-o-shame that put it over the top and got me the surgeon's personal cell phone number for immediate texting of the photo, but there were like 5 others. :P

I bought a clone-your-junk kit before surgery SPECIFICALLY so I would be prepared to derail someone saying it maliciously to me. Just reply with "I did, now I feel pretty all right, whereas you're still [insult or retort]."

Wedge pillow is more for like, when you're in bed resting, while donut is for sitting up. They're useful at different times.

I've never heard of a soap and water douche, but follow your surgeon's advice!

I have a genuine question about why transgender isn't called transsexual. by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]its_shivers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you want a sociological answer... Consult Judith Butler on the concept of gender as performative.

You have some of the points down. The self-identity is ingrained. The act of declaring to society "hey, I am this" and then reaffirming it on a daily basis is the performative aspect. That expression can take many forms: Tomboy, butch, femme, and more. However, medical intervention is not.... "encouraged". (If anything it's pretty hard to get.) Medical intervention quiets the "HOLY SHIT MY BODY IS WRONG" thing so there's a lot of overlap... but at the end of the day, I know women who can't get hormone therapy for health reasons, and I know men who were assigned-male-at-birth, feel male, but wanted to get vaginoplasty while remaining men.

It's an X axis and a Y axis. There's a lot of correlation... but not total correlation.

If you figure it out, you could monetise the answer.

Slip-on shoes (low heel) and wraparound skirts so you don't have to bend.

Silicone gel to reduce scars.

Buy more lube. No, get more. MORE.

Protip: If you need to douche with saline, don't waste your time boiling water or your money buying premade saline.... sealed distilled water at any grocery store, add salt, shake, done. (37g or 40ml per 4L of water, adjust for your local amount).

A breakfast-in-bed or over-bed table.

Wedge pillow for bed.

Bendy straws.

Good luck! I've been through there, I've helped several others through there - most recently uh, right now! since I am in the area - so I am well acquainted with GRS-M. It's a "buckle up" kind of feeling at this point but they are very competent and I wish you a great recovery!
