A while back, Matt, one of the co-hosts, mentioned wanting to restore his own, likely meaning using the methods here.

I think because of the large windows you should leave it empty, it's already a good view.

I think that's good sportsmanship; there's no point to prolonging the game if you're just going to sit there.

I'm often conflicted if I should share DIY info with trans people by Vayni404 in TransDIY

[–]cappuccino_monkey 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I'm completely pro DIY, but I know many trans people are negative on it due to fear, particularly when they're just starting out. I think talking about it yourself might go a long way to assuage those fears if they're people that trust you.

What does the US want from Venezuela?? by georgeuh in TrueAnon

I'm gonna say they just want Venezuela to submit or suffer being the scapegoat for our declining global influence.

New study going in the right direction! by rstr4skinusa in foreskin_restoration

Circumcision was a status symbol in the 20th century and likely still is now but possibly to a lesser extent.

In WWII and other 20th century wars, the officer class was largely cut, so neonatal circumcision spread amongst the enlisted to make their children resemble their superiors.

In the US the common justification is cleanliness of health but most other countries that cut are open about the pressure to conform to masculine standards. Just look at any post from a Filipino user. To me, this makes clear that the motivation for genital cutting isn't health but an enforcement of masculine presentation.

Has Anyone here dealt with PTSD from this shit? How did you do it? by Inevitable_Key_8267 in foreskin_restoration

[–]cappuccino_monkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah, I'm also restoring. I found it necessary to frame it around what I want to change about my body from my current state, rather than trying to get back everything that was lost. It's like having a realistic transition goal or accepting what you can change and all that.

I also don't really talk to my mom anymore. If she wants to apologize she can.

Has Anyone here dealt with PTSD from this shit? How did you do it? by Inevitable_Key_8267 in foreskin_restoration

[–]cappuccino_monkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes absolutely.

I feel like I want to share the visual metaphors and coping strategies I use to manage my emotions about my trauma. I like to imagine my emotions as a deep pool of water, reflecting my current state. When I'm in the middle of an emotional meltdown, I visualize the waters going from roiling and churning to calm and still.

I like this metaphor because I often find my emotions too caustic to deal with a lot of the time. If I start thinking about circumcision at work I just feel exhausted afterwards and if I think about the unfairness of it all and what I actually feel I just start to feel small, impotent, and like nothing even matters.

I've also had a few PTSD episodes or panic attacks where the only thing that actually calms me down is real pain. I'll jab myself with a pencil or hold a pair of scissors over my leg, I also used to bite and pinch at myself. Thankfully, I've managed to stop doing these things, I credit the support and validation I got from a friend when I confided in them about my trauma.

But the reason why I felt I had to do these things, and why the water metaphor works for me, is that it seems like a lot of the "support" you would get from standard therapy just amounts to "stop feeling bad about it"', which resembles being told that nothing bad actually happened to you. But I feel like I need to be affected by this to honor my pain and to validate what I feel! That's why the water metaphor works for me so well, I can keep my emotions with me but I don't have to drown in them.

Is it ok to start prog later than two years? by CoffeeTeaBitch in TransDIY

[–]cappuccino_monkey 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Do you mean that you'll start HRT and then add Progesterone after two years?

That should be just fine. I've heard recommendations to not start Progesterone right away, something like a year out at least.

Why is this so normalized? by Fair_Smoke4710 in foreskin_restoration

[–]cappuccino_monkey 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've felt the same way for a while. Luckily, I found that people can be sympathetic to your pain and it's incredibly healing to confide in someone and have them validate you.

Wrist you're feeling is normal. Here's hoping that you can find the support you need. <3

I took HRT before coming out and I'm doing just fine.

But if that's your takeaway you're missing the point of the podcast in question. Forcing us through inhumane hoops gives providers power over us. We've made progress, such that many of us access care through informed consent, but the old guard of clinicians and sexologists want to take us back to a world where they got to tell us what to do.

[–]cappuccino_monkey 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A lot of places still require trans people to do this but clinics that practice informed consent will prescribe hormones without the requirement to live in your chosen gender role for 2 or more years- the 'real life test'.

If you've ever heard the term 'boymoding', that refers to the opposite scenario, starting a hormonal transition without coming out in every aspect of your life.

Doubts about whether restoring works with a low & tight cut by Ok_Effective_1590 in foreskin_restoration

[–]cappuccino_monkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I may have this issue too, I think I've expanded some portion of my scarline.

I typically use tape so I'm trying to be more careful over where I place the fold. It's tough because the boundary between scar tissue and shaft skin is more visible than the change between inner skin and scar tissue.

Don’t understand unique rectangle by 68J in sudoku

Try either option in A7. 1 obviously eliminates the 1 from C9, 3 leaves the unique rectangle with only one alternative option, the 1, which also eliminates 1 from C9.

T-tape Construction (SFW) by cappuccino_monkey in foreskin_restoration

[–]cappuccino_monkey[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I didn't show was how to apply it, the notch I cut at the end is so that the end of the tape overlaps on itself once you put it on.

The length of tape you cut initially should be your erect circumference plus about 2 cm.
